Is Rey cancelled for kissing a mass murderer though

  2. I don't think it's as bad as the reviews but there's some wacky shit in this

Question, is there still a bunch of wild SW moments like in the other movies? If so, I’m down despite the quality.

There were quite a few moments that made me think “wow” or “ooooh” or inhale quickly if that’s what you mean.

    Define wild SW moments...

It's a VERY Star Wars film. It's part of what a good chunk if not pretty much all of the film relies on.

The constant callbacks really bummed me out. I thought maybe JJ got it out of his system with TFA

This movie is a hot mess. It is fan service to the max. However, Zorii Bliss and Babu Frik are :100: for the little we get of them and Lando is absolutely delightfully. I’m happy for those of you that love it tho!

I found myself wondering why I was watching Independence Day or Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings at quite a few moments.

Nah, was super into the callbacks.

    ESPECIALLY Chewie getting his medal.

I really did love a lot of this. The last scene was magical

Like I’m talking about those big battles, the lightsaber duels, chase scenes, etc. I guess what I’m getting at is those moments that Star Wars Star Wars it that makes sense.

The last 10 minutes or so of this made everything I disliked seem to irrelvant because the ending was so wonderful.

    Ruin it for them, Jason.

Oh yeah. J.J. ticks all the 'Star Wars' tropes boxes.

It’s kind of nothing but that, which is one of my big problems with the movie.

Going to be a Debbie downer:

Ugh, what a bummer. Hated pretty much every decision they made here. Feels like the last two were pointless now. Definitely sloppy and rushed in places, was surprised by some of the editing, writing, dialogue, takes, etc. Cinematography was awful. Lando was terrible. Nothing felt earned. The fan service was obscene. I can’t believe this came from JJ and/or Disney okayed it.

This was executed a bit better than it sounded on paper. While it’s definitely a crowded film there were moments I really liked watching. Many of the bad ideas on paper were also terrible on film. One of the best parts about this was seeing Chewy, Rey, Finn, and Poe going on an adventure.

Loved it. Not the greatest Star Wars movie, but a satisfying end to this trilogy for me. My biggest gripe at the moment is how the ending of this film can reconcile with the point/purpose of the first six (especially the ending of RotJ).

That's currently a huge gripe amongst some of the conversations Twitter is having, here's why I think it doesn't negate the point/purpose of the first six:

Yes, Anakin was the chosen one, who was meant to bring balance to the force, and he did by killing Palpatine, lord of the Sith. This movie doesn't negate Anakin's sacrifice or the force balance at the end of ROTJ at all. The Force Awakens literally showed that darkness again can rise, and light to meet it. Anakin did balance the force, doesn't mean it has to stay balanced. I'm sure there was balance before Anakin was around, and I'm sure there won't be balance again.

The retconning of the saber toss made me actually LOL. So much of this felt like SNL parody at times.

I think Finn’s only purpose in this was to yell character names during dangerous moments.
