Seeing how divisive this seems to be, I’m kind of glad I read the spoilers a long time ago, so as to come to terms with what happens rather than going in and being dissatisfied after a first viewing.

I'm still excited honestly. I'm hoping this provides a satisfying finale to the new trilogy and ties things together in a way that doesn't feel like negating the movie that came before much. Ultimately I'll try to take it on its own terms, even if there are some choices I disagree with. I really hope it does stick the landing, this trilogy deserves it.

Was planning to just go a week or 2 after it opens so I don't have to deal with crowds. Crowds give me super high anxiety. But I couldn't take it and bought 2 tix for Sunday morning. Theater has big, reclining seats so there's a ton more space than your conventional seating. So pumped for 9am Sunday!

And every era of Star Wars has a fan base that’s awful for different reasons which is rare for a property to have such a diverse collection of shitlords

I’ll still enjoy this because of lasers, sabers, and explosions.

I’m not a JJ Abrams fan and didn’t enjoy his last Star Wars movie. The Last Jedi speaks well to the ethos of Star Wars while inspiring something new that I never thought the franchise would make me feel again. It ends with the dark and light in perpetual war that will never truly end, but with that kid in the final shot shows us why it matters what you decide for yourself amidst that struggle (an exclamation point on the Kylo/Rey struggle that expands it beyond them).

I’m very happy with the Last Jedi as a conclusion to all of Star Wars for myself.

Reaaaaally hope Rian still gets his trilogy, I need more SW like that.

  8. Kinda wish Rian would have gotten to do this movie to be honest.

(The what would Rian have done will be my Snyder cut.)

I'll always wonder how that would've ended. Rian is the best director to ever work in this franchise.

The more I think about everything around this, the more I just feel tired. I really think 2019 is gonna go down as the year that Disney broke me as far as seeing every big Marvel & Star Wars film in theaters. I just don't care anymore.

  11. Were JJ, Rian, and Trevorrow announced at the same time? I don't remember.

But I feel like this is what happens when you try to do a trilogy with different directors and writers.

I like the idea of three different directors and not a clear cut path, though the trevorrow hire felt off immediately. Guy isn't that good lol

I think it has to do with a lot of our worries being the reason people are not liking it.

Just finished Jedi. Never thought about this but if Anakin is able to become a force ghost, why hasn’t he been guiding Luke or Kylo?

Maybe Luke has been? I think Kylo thinks he is speaking with him, but it is actually Palps as Vader.

I feel like this whole franchise has such a wide array of opinionated fans that any reviews are just noise to me. No matter the quality of the movie, some are going to say it ruined Star Wars (and probably think that way before they even see it).

If it tries to be safe, people will say it ruined with TLJ built. If it follows down TLJ's path, people will say it's an abomination. Then there's the opposite crowd that likes everything Star Wars-related. So...I usually just average them all out.
