My top 2-3 films changes every time I rewatch them. Empire is always first but the next couple I switch around constantly. And then at the bottom is Attack of the Clones forever and always.

At least most people agree that Empire is #1 and AOTC is last. That’s what matters.

I need to watch the prequels again to get a clearer ranking but I just can’t do it, even ROTS

Granted, there is A LOT bad about The Phantom Menace, but I don't think anything in Revenge of the Sith comes close to the lightsaber fight with Qui Gon, Obi Wan & Darth Maul at the end of TPM. For me personally, the fight between Obi Wan & Anakin at the end of ROTS isn't even in the same league.

(My brain blocks out the fact that it is intercut with scenes of that silly CGI clusterf--- of a battle between aliens and robots.)

The way I see it, all 3 prequels are bad enough that the order doesn't really matter that much. And, because of how bad they are, I personally rank 'em purely based on the highlights, regardless of consistency.

I think that's why I prefer Phantom over Revenge. Like, all 3 are bad enough that I'll never sit through any of 'em again for the rest of my life. So, while Revenge is in some ways more consistent, it's still awful, and a Phantom highlight reel would be better than a Revenge highlight reel.

Anyways, if we're doing tiers, for me personally...

Great: Empire, New Hope, Last Jedi
    Good: Rogue One, Force Awakens
Unfocused but still good: Return of the Jedi
    Forgettable: Solo
    Bad: Phantom, Revenge, Clones

Kinda off note but I enjoyed the Yoda/Sidious fight in ROTS more than the Anakin/Obi-Wan

  17. Solo wasn’t as bad as people make it out to be. I liked it more than most Marvel movies.

Yeah I just saw Solo a week or two ago and for all the hate it got, I quite enjoyed it

Yea, I really enjoyed Solo. I watched it again when I bought the Blu-ray and it still held up. I don’t love everything in there, but it’s still at better than it should have been considering all the BTS drama.

I kind of hated and still loathe every second where a CGI Yoda is on the screen flipping and bouncing all around. I don't think the CGI version of him had the soul that the puppet version did.

I do admit that this could very well just be my bias having grown up watching Sesame Street and Jim Henson stuff.

In my opinion, having him fight like that was ill advised. I would have simply had him be so skilled and powerful that he was able to overcome and defeat larger and more physically imposing enemies.

I feel like the prequels are a result of the time period that they were made in. CGI was vastly improving and it was exciting so Lucas was so preoccupied with whether or not he could, he didn’t stop to think if he should.

A lot of the stuff like CGI gymnastic Yoda is a result of this.

After that, it’s all kind of jumbled. Shoutout to the few of us here who have fun with the prequels ha. Also, this reminds me I need to reread the ROTS novelization.

we definitely don't need to analyze the prequels in here lol they are very bad let's leave it at that and discuss other things
