hope his SW score for this one is more memorable as a whole than TFA.

I think there is a lot of good stuff in the TFA score. It's hard to compare it to a score from 30 years ago that we have heard a billion times.

I love Rey's theme, Jedi Steps, the attack Jakku stuff, Kylo Ren arrives at battle, and some others. I find myself humming various parts.

Tfa is super memorable imo. When I saw it the first time I didn't think so, but I've really changed my tune since. Reys theme, kylos theme, the resistance theme are all great and Jedi steps is amazing.

I'm really happy to know Williams is going to continue to build on those themes now

Is it at all possible that we get a teaser in front of Rogue One?

Hard to say. We got the first TFA slightly earlier than that. But we didn't get Rogue One until way later.

I don't think they'll start promoting VII until around April/May next year, basically after the Rogue One cycle has ended. It makes sense to give the first spin off as much attention as possible.

You're probably right, you wouldn't want the biggest thing to come out of Rogue One be the VIII trailer.

As others have said, I wasn't impressed by the TFA score at first, but it really grew on me. Jedi Steps gets me so emotional.

Maybe I'm just an old crotchety asshole, but I hate this kind of stuff.

There are rumors they are going to change the release date to May to celebrate the 40th year anniversary of the first movie. Williams is apparently starting to score it in a couple weeks even already.

I doubt it though, personally. But I would lose my shit if it happened.

I couldn't imagine them pushing the release date that far up

It was the original release date though.

Like I said, I doubt it. It is far too big a movie with so many tie ins and advertising that is probably set up so far in advance. But I would be so stoked.

    Fight the long defeat.

While this would be aesthetically pleasing, to a certain degree, they really should have gone with a commemorative release date for Ep. VII, if they were going to at all. As it is, I like establishing December as the new month for Star Wars films.

Thumbs up on Williams starting the score early. The more time he has to work his magic, the better.

Yea, 7 would have been perfect as an anniversary movie.

I'm personally not set on any one month being a certain movie month. I'm down for whatever. I just want some new Star Wars.

I liked his 7 score, can't wait to hear what he does next. He is so amped on writing for Daisy.

still feel like a 2 year wait between 7 and 8 feels like a bad idea in every respect

Hahaha I mean, it used to be 3 years under Lucas. While I would want one every year, I recognize giving it some time to breathe and be the best movie possible is a good thing. As well, at least for now, we are still getting a Star Wars movie every year. I think Rogue One will be great and hold me over another year.

we have the most well oiled production and marketing teams for anything ever now though

seems like a 1-1.5ish year hype schedule is prime
