Also it would give some closure for Han which I felt we never really got in TLJ.

I guess for me the question is how does she die? If it's only a couple years after TLJ, that's clearly not enough time for it to just be of old age. Maybe because of Luke's death she pulls a Padme and dies of a broken heart?

Edit: I'm kidding about this, by the way.

She's been fighting wars since a young age, I'm sure stress will kill you over at some point haha.

Definitely understand that sentiment but idk about a misstep. I think one last scene with Luke and Leia (which was beautiful and with Han dead and Carrie gone would’ve been the only chance left for that), along with the fact that she needed to be alive to see Poe learn from his mistakes and pass on the leadership torch to him were two things way more important than giving her a dramatic death just because

Plus she was going to have a huge role in 9 which rumors say the plan was for the initial script was to have her actually have a scene with Ben. Unfair to say it was a misstep IMO.

Not trying to unpack all the "what if's" this movie could have done, but you could still have had Luke force visit Leia on the ship before she was the one who turned it around and light speeded the First Order. That would have made Luke show up in person at the end which fans would have loved. Either way, this is one of many what if scenarios that will probably upset a lot of people in this thread lol.

And I still stay Misstep because they had like 8 months to change things around since her death right? Movies have been changed and re shot in a lot less time on lower budgets. I cannot fathom why they left her character alive instead of a hero's death, but that's just me.

I have no idea how they are going to deal with Kylo and actually finish this arc. He can’t turn since he’s the main villain. He can’t be redeemed. If he dies it can’t be the typical villain fall from great heights since Palpatine did that and that’s so trite. Rey can’t kill him since that would go against the pacifist principle and what Luke did in ROTJ.

How the fuck does he go out? Space prison?

Nah stupid to get upset over. I like these talks with different takes. Definitely disagree on like...every level though lol but no worries. It definitely would’ve been sweet if Leia went out like that but you can’t reshoot scenes for somebodies death went they aren’t alive to do it. They would’ve had to get shots of her seeing the rebel ships going to crait get blown up, then her deciding to do the kamikaze, turning it around, then if Luke force Skyped her she’d have to actually like...say something.

Anything else would’ve made no sense and the same fans that hated it was holdo doing the sacrifice I’d assume are the ones that just hated Holdo (which I’d argue the audience was supposed to) and they’d hate that Holdo is alive and now in charge (which she still would’ve had to be) for 9.

Not saying you should be like what happened. If you don’t you don’t and I agree it would’ve been cool to see Leia do that and a better death, but it would’ve made no sense narratively and totally wiped away the impact of Poe’s arc.

Have him be his own downfall somehow. He's such a loose cannon I don't think this would be too far fetched.

maybe Rey pulls an Aang from Avatar and develops a way to sever Kylos connection to the Force.

That’s the thing though. I want it to be new and different. I feel like everything’s been done.

Saw this for the 5th time today, which I think is the most I've seen one movie in the theater. I still think everything from the 3rd force connection/after Finn & Rose leave Canto Bight (and I still don't think Canto Bight is bad) on is brilliant. Final verdict: great movie.

If I were to edit one thing, it would be Finn's dialogue. He has some great moments ("where's Rey?", his meet cute with Rose, his look of awe when he's wondering around the casino, "Chrome-dome" and "Rebel scum"), but overall he is very exposition heavy.

Chrome dome is what the turtles call Shredder in the cartoon series. That made me laugh when he said it.

    It appears so.

Oddly, my theater stopped playing it a week back now.

I need to see it one final time in theaters. Gonna have to go to the further away theater.

Some people are thinking the “sudden” leaving is because of the whole Disney demands that it HAD around play for 4 weeks and had set amount of shows per day . They think it kind of created a backlog for some theaters so now they are dumping it to get to other movies. Which kind of makes sense.

omg I love these throne room music videos ha

mathemagics —It’s ABBA so it gets pretty cheeseball but I love the beginning of it.

I’m going to see this my fourth and final time this weekend. Excited since it’s been a few weeks.

Video kind of answers this question that I asked in this thread recently. I assumed it was the will of the Force, but this makes sense too. hard to control the force when your focus is on a wound thats killing you.

Also a great point about the moment after the lightsaber split. I think it would've been cool to have Rey possibly thinking about killing Kylo while he was unconscious. Like after she finally realizes he wont turn she actually empathizes with Lukes initial reaction to kill Kylo. She grabs Kylos saber from the ground and looks at him. Looks at the saber. A few tears just from the ambivalence of the decision. Then puts it down and runs. Not only would it have been powerful, but it wouldve probably lessened the reaction from some of the fans reinforcing that idea that if you have the chance to end this, it might be worth it no matter what. Just like those fans she thought it was inconceivable Luke could do that, but once your in that situation where you literally have the power to end pain and suffering for the galaxy, its a whole different story.

Then maybe later she'll talk to Force ghost Luke and she tells him what happened and says she understands it now and asks him how can I beat him if I cant kill him (once again going back to Avatar). Even though its a story from Avatar, its definitely not a common one. I wouldnt mind to see it in Star Wars considering Pacifism is already a part of its legacy.
