While making my friend's music video I had the idea that if I ever make music videos I'm gonna have him make a random cameo in the background of every video

I'm imagining that with the OT with Jar Jar just randomly like using a screwdriver on the death star, swimming around in Dagobah, wearing one of the red guard suits

This is me, too! I loved SW as a kid, but was never like...a SW loyalist. My wife has always been way more into SW than me (which means any time I slightly make a story mistake in my discussing it with her, she knocks me down hard and fast, hahaha), but this new trilogy has me totally hyped. The nostalgia factor resonated hard with me in TFA and just seeing that opening crawl the first time I saw it really made me feel so many things, but now I'm just wanting to consume as much SW stuff as possible.

Also been investigating book/EU/etc, and it's very intimidating. I was explaining how much there was to a co-worker a few weeks back and he had no idea there was even that degree of content.

I had no clue they had those kinds of missions in Lego TFA, though?? It wasn't on my radar at all, but that REALLY intrigues me.

 

it's only a matter of time before we see the Gungan again right? Jar Jar would be dead by now and they aren't the type to leave Naboo, but I'd love for Finn to run into an exiled asshole Gungan in a cantina/casino type of scene

 

So Im picturing an opening scene of episode 9 Rey sitting down with a bunch of pieces in front of her reading the jedi books she took trying to construct a Lightsaber using the books she took

 

i think i'm drawing the line at the novels for now. my buddy has offered to let me borrow a lot of the modern comics and stuff and i've got Lego TFA and I'm picking up a season of Rebels.

for Lego TFA, the "brige the gap" missions are at least partially lifted from said comics/novels - i was told one of them explains 3PO's red arm. it's a lot of fun, they're great games to mindlessly crash around in

 

Yall should read Bloodline if you are trying to get into the books

The Aftermath trilogy is trash in my opinion but it's an easy read and gives you post ROTJ action

I just remembered, that's my one big criticism with The Last Jedi: the fathiers. I'm not criticizing the plot device, what occurs with the fathiers, their behavior, anything like that. I just want to say that I think their faces look stupid and they make me sad.

 

They look like The Last Guardian video game. Seriously everyone google that.

 

I have no problem with how the fathiers look, but the chase sequence with them felt like a generic action movie :/

 

Looked like the racing bulls of Pamplona, super sick imo

With The Last Jedi, you’re in the Empire Strikes Back part of the trilogy. You have to pick up where The Force Awakens left off and set up the next one. What’s the process?

Johnson: It’s very much a baton handoff, it’s a relay race. From VII to VIII and now VIII to IX, we sit down and have a conversation. From VII to VIII it was mostly me asking J.J. Abrams about The Force Awakens and the choices in it. What do you think this meant? What do you think that meant? Getting all the information I can out of him. But from there it’s a clean hand-off, and I think it’s something that’s very important in the storytelling in these movies, I had a free hand to take it where I wanted to take it and make choices about what I thought was going to be best for the dramatic situations and where the story went. The same thing from VIII to IX, and actually I couldn’t give you spoilers if I wanted to. J.J. and Chris Terrio are off writing IX right now and we had a conversation where I just kind of gave them a download of where I left things and the potential that I saw, but the truth is they’re picking it up and they’re going to tell their story and I just get to be an audience member now, to see how they bring it home.

Lots of good stuff in there.

 

While it must be so cool to be a Star Wars fan and then later get the chance to write and direct them, part of me would be at least a little sad to lose the suspense of not knowing how it ends and getting to watch that for the first time on the screen.

I think if you’re on the shortlist to direct a Star Wars movie money isn’t really an issue for you haha
