While implied, this is not officially canon.

It's.... semi-canon(?) Since some of the Plagueis story is mentioned in the Tarkin book which is canon.

"I'm no Jedi." The definition of Jedi precludes there being a grey one.

Life, death, peace, violence. None of these things are in and of themselves "dark." The balance is the Force between them all. The dark side tries to manipulate this Force to their own means while the light works in tandem with the Living Force to bring peace. At least, that's my take on it. I'll stand corrected though if Rey is using Force Lightning and Force Chokes a bunch of people in IX. I guess we'll have to wait and find out. The funnest part!

Tarkin is now canon, but the books featuring him are not canon and the events in them are not canon.

Plagueis creating Anakin is not officially canon. The book stating as such is now Legends.

Here is what is canon on this subject
-according to Palpatine There was a Sith master named Darth Plagueis (we don’t know if this is true)
-based on what he tells Anakin later, we can assume that this supposed Plagueis was Palpatine’s master. (Again unknown if true)
-Plagueis wanted to control life itself, both creating and making a life eternal. but according to Palpatine, he never fully got there. (Maybe?)
-according to shmi, Anakin has no father. He was immaculately conceived.

If everything above is true, it could be seen that Anakin being created this was is implied if you connect all the dots. But it’s never fully explained and Palpatine knows that Anakin is fearful of Padmen dying. He may have made a lot of this up to play on Anakin’s emotions to seduce him to the dark side.

Says what? And again, not fighting for the specific term. But are you actually against there being a middle path?

Watching the clone wars cartoon right now. I can’t believe how much better this animated show is than the actual prequels.

Better than TFA and TLJ too, imo.

I mean trade dispute/union dispute, I feel like it might be a subtle wink at the audience regardless. "Jab" was maybe the wrong word. I don't think anyone is accusing Rian or any of the new directors going out of their way to hate on the old movies. I mean, Luke directly mentions Darth Sidious and the fall of the Jedi in this one. Rogue One brings back a few prequel actors and JJ had a few prequel nods as well. It's not like they are completely ignoring the prequels.

I believe that the films should stick to Lucas' original interpretation in which balance was the light being in power. Luke did say that there was balance for a while before Kylo. So I guess I'd say yes.

    Edit:
You know, I guess what you're saying is different. And Rey definitely isn't serene when she fights like the Jedi of old. But no, I don't think Rey will rely too heavily upon the dark side of the Force. It's an intriguing argument though. These speculations are always fun though.

    2nd Edit:
Then again, Snoke does say, "Powerful darkness, powerful light." He's obviously referring to Rey with the powerful light comment, not Luke. I believe the Force gave Rey her powers as a counterbalance to Kylo's darkness much same way as (cover your ears prequel haters) Anakin was created. They just didn't use the virgin birth thing this time thank God.

Ummm... I don’t think so. Trade disputes and union disputes are totally different things.

Like you got the joke if you understood how crazy union-company negotiations can be irl.

I understand these are two different things in real life. Yes, the joke works even if it's not meant to be this extra inside joke, but jokes can have multiple layers. I think if most Star Wars fans saw an opening crawl that said the words "Union dispute", they would have instant flash backs to Phantom Menace and the Trade Federation.

One thing I noticed on a second viewing: when Snoke hits Rey in the back of the head with the lightsaber, you can see Kylo casually move his head aside to dodge it. Dude's probably been bonked on the head so many times by Snoke already lol

I get your point. But I still believe you're reaching.

I just really can’t imagine why one would do that.

On season 3. The relationship between anakin and obi wan and seeing the machinations of the senate are definite highlights.

Do you know how much input Lucas had on this?

Fair enough. In all honestly, you're probably right and it could be very well be unintentional, but to me it's always going to have a slight double meaning.

Yea, it's likely a reach. But, TFA did start with the line, "This will begin to make things right". And yes, these different directors and different movies, but there's no way that wasn't a line with double meaning. Star Wars can bring a little meta humor from time to time.

I know he had some mainly the idea for the series but from what I understand we should be thankful for Dave Filioni and his cowboy hat.

On one hand I love how these are released during December now because it's a great atmosphere... But I also hate it because I'm always incredibly busy this month. At this rate it looks like I won't even be able to see it until after Christmas
