  1. Rian Johnson Discusses Snoke and Phasma in The Last Jedi
“It would have stopped any of these scenes dead cold if he had stopped and given a 30-second speech about how he’s Darth Plagueis. It doesn’t matter to Rey. If he had done that, Rey would have blinked and said, ‘Who?’ And the scene would have gone on.”

Before moving on himself, Johnson quickly added, “And I’m not saying he’s Darth Plagueis!”

    Good stuff here.

RO's final act is great, it's how they get there that is thoroughly mediocre.

  5. Even accepting as true, that's one act that's infinitely better than anything in the prequels.

I like the rest of the film more!

And yes the characters around Jyn suck and I cant remember their names. But Im not normally one to think Star Wars has amazingly deep characters. Luke and Leia and Hans personalities in the OT were never amazing to me. The situations they were in and their interaction with the alien universe of SW was what was interesting to me.

Really Galen Erso is one of the franchises most interesting characters.

  9. Star Wars nerds looking for canon for Leia's force moment:
In the Clone Wars series, there is an episode where Senator Amidala finds herself in a predicament during the battle of Mon Cala where her underwater life support system becomes damaged. Anakin and fellow Jedi Kit Fisto create a “Force orb” around the senator to keep her from drowning. While it could be argued that the two scenarios are very different given that one takes place in water while the other in the vacuum of space, there is another moment where a Force user survived being ejected into space.

    And:

In Star Wars: Rebels, Kanan Jarrus is ejected into the vacuum of space by Maul, but quickly and frantically uses the Force to pull himself back to safety. I read that a human could only survive in a vacuum for about 15 seconds before succumbing due to the lack of oxygen in the blood. My theory is that Leia instinctively created a Force orb around herself (evidenced by her continued survival past this point and the fact that the ice on her face had started to melt) and like Kanan, she began to pull herself toward the ship using the Force. I would have preferred she do so with a more frantic desperation on screen, but in the end, I understand Rian’s decision to have her exude a graceful elegance as she made her way to safety.

Anyone else cry during their scene/The ones we lose are never really gone (or w/e that line was) or was that just me?

This seems a bit circular. Like other examples of this happening in the cartoon make the way it was presented in TLJ any better.

It would be like saying that gif from episode 3 you shared is a good scene because general grievous also spun his sabers around in season 2 of the clone wars to distract who he was fighting.

  15. I don't think the argument is that it makes it "better," I think the argument is there's precedence for it working/ someone surviving.

There’s a degree of magnificent failure to III that makes it watchable for me. The wasted potential of RO with its stacked cast really hurt it. Also, those uncanny valley creations of Tarkin and Leia.

But for real. If anyone goes to Ireland I can’t recommend it enough. Flights there are relatively cheap and accommodations at most B&Bs are dirt cheap. Renting a car is the largest expense. I could have explored the Ring of Kerry for forever.

    That makes more sense.

I didn’t realize people were arguing over The possibility of a “force bubble” as much as they were saying “really, that was how you are going to have Leia survive and zoom away”.
