He might as well have just ate it, now it's like he killed that porg for no reason just tossing the corpse away.

Saw it again tonight and the sound design in the throne room scene is incredible. All the weapons sound violent and terrifying.

I would’ve loved to see that, I think it could’ve worked given the tone of the film. They already had BB-8 doing some pretty outrageous stuff, why not a droid battle

Saw this last night and loved it. I would still love to see Finn lead a revolt of Stormtroopers. We know the Resistance is in dire need of numbers and, well, they’ve got the numbers.

I thought it would happen too but I think it makes it more interesting moving forward that we didn't get anything like that. He tried training with Luke, Luke was too scared of the darkness in him and tried to kill him (or so he thought). Snoke pulled him to the dark side but did nothing but tell him he sucked and that he had too much light in him. Now Kylo is just a conflicted mess moving forward which I think is perfect despite not getting any onscreen training sessions...as cool as that might have been.

  6. Second watch made the parts I really liked turn to love. Man is it messy in parts though, and needs to be cut a bit, but I’m so glad this movie exists and the hate is way over the top from the people that *hate* it. It has some fucking incredible moments. Iconic and just so damn good.

  8. Also Rian Johnson gave us multiple moments in one movie that are some of the best shot and acted in the entire saga.

Based on TLJ, it seems like Luke didn’t know her.

Regarding the light saber vision, im wondering now if it was a mixture of flashbacks and future events. I had assumed the Kylo/Knights of Ren stuff from the vision was from when the temple was destroyed, but that doesn’t seem to line up with the way it unfolded based on Luke’s telling. Could be wrong, but Kylo likely wouldn’t have had his mask (or saber for that matter) that night. I guess it could be a flashback to some other unknown event, seems just as likely to be future.

    The ones that went away:

Snoke dying: after the initial shock and somewhat disappointment from the first viewing, I realized that his death made room for Kylo and Hux to truly shine and make their own commands.

    Grumpy Luke:
Luke has always been a fighter and helper. Seeing him become a hermit that wanted nothing to do with his sister and her conflict was strange when I first watched the movie. I still feel like his character is more of a boost for Rey and that it’s almost as if there wasn’t a real need for him here, but I enjoyed the grumpy Luke scenes the second time I watched them. I think it makes his distraction at the end more powerful.

    Luke’s death:
I thought it happened to quickly. Out of nowhere he fades away and we don’t even mourn for him (minus 10 seconds of Rey and Leia mentioning that Luke is gone). It caught me off guard and it didn’t feel like as big of a moment as it should have been. I do like then atmosphere of the scene and it’s nearly identical to the end of the 1971 film A Touch Of Zen. I wouldn’t be surprised if Johnson was inspired by it. With that, I can appreciate it visually.

    Things that stayed:

    Leia Space scene:
I don’t know I ever won’t find it odd. Her body was frozen and she wasn’t floating in space. How can the force raise her body temperature high enough to unfreeze her while not killing her (she still has regular organs and a human body). As far as I’m concerned, force-sensitive or not, if you’re frozen in space then you’re gone.

    Finn and Rose subplot:
It’s not a bore to watch (minus the casino stuff) and Boyenga and Kelly are good actors, so this isn’t a complete negative to me. That said, the entire subplot is unnecessary and I don’t think they achieve anything with it. The Finn vs Phasma fight is cool.

Why Luke wanted to get rid of Kylo:
Luke fought Vader and for his hand chopped off but still continued to pursue Vader because he believed that he could be saved due to him sensing good in Vader. I’m suppose to expect that same guy to want to get rid of his nephew because he senses that there could be something dark in him.

Rey as the hero and Kylo the villain:
From the moment Kylo explained that he wanted to get rid of both the Resistance and First Order, I wanted Rey to accept his offer and the two of them become a threat for both organizations by creating their own group of people that seek out the truth of the force without the dogma or politics of light vs dark. Instead we are once again going to get the basic light vs dark that was ammusing in the original trilogy, somewhat ammusing in the prequels, and stale in the sequels.

I assumed they didn’t make a big deal out of Luke vanishing because he’ll still be in the next film. Do you think we won’t see a blue glowing Luke in a scene or two in Episode IX?

Kylo still wants to subjugate the galaxy and Rey doesn't. So even though they're both rejecting the Jedi/Sith conflict, his personal goals and philosophy still puts him at odds with her. So there was no hope of them teaming up because of that, not because they're still operating under the Light vs. Dark dichotomy. So, just because it would have been cool if what you're saying happened, it wasn't possible because he chose to continue to be evil despite rejecting the Sith.
