My biggest gripe with the movie is probably that I wanted all the Daisy/Adam stuff I could get, and I think other arcs/characters took tons of time away from that. I would have much preferred a shorter movie cutting some of the other stuff out.

I also didn’t see progression in any of the core characters, save for maybe Rey.

Are we just supposed to think Kylo is stupid? He is clearly aware of force projection as he tells Rey that she couldnt be doing it as the effort alone would kill her. Yet he isnt at all suspicious when Luke is not harmed in all the gunfire. Additionally, Luke is using the lightsaber that he had just destroyed with Rey, yet he didnt notice? I just cant believe that his anger blinded him THAT much.
Overall I did not care for this movie much.

I liked it overall. Kylo really is a great villain and they built him up very well. The island scenes with Rey and Luke were the biggest let down for me. There were some disjointed segments that didn’t really work as well as they could have, but there was enough good for sure. I really feel like I need to see it again.

I don’t expect that to be a popular opinon. And for the record, I didn’t mean it to be insensitive towards her, if it came across that way. That’s also a very minor gripe of mine and was just snark at the original comment.

  9. He thinks what *he* would do. His ego would have him show up, he can’t see why someone else wouldn’t. Young Luke woulda too (and did).

the way Snoke died was pretty surprising, but the misdirection after was a brilliant move. And as others said. I don’t think he really could have gone out any other way. It did remind me of killing a big boss too easily in a video game though haha

I understand why he isnt suspicious of the fact that Luke is there in the first place, but that doesnt explain why he doesnt notice Luke using a lightsaber that Kylo himself just destroyed{/SPOILER] or the fact that noone could survive that attack, even the strongest Jedi ever[/SPOILER}. That didnt seem to make ANYONE suspicious, but at least Kylo should have been...

Can’t wait to see what these deleted scenes are that Rian said were some of his favorites.

  16. Why wouldn’t he think Luke Skywalker couldn’t survive that attack? He’s Luke. Haha. Most of the audience thought he did for most of that fight too. Seems a weird thing to be hung up on. Kylo’s an impulsive emotional ego driven wreck. He rushes into things without thinking as a trademark now.

If Luke could survive that, why would Kylo think his lightsaber would do any damage... still ignoring the second part of my issue with that scene. For that scene to work, we have to think Kylo is an idiot.

  19. Again, because he’s an ego driven ego maniac that thinks he’s the most powerful person in the galaxy.

No, we have to think he’s who he is as a character and everything he’s shown us for two movies. That scene epitomizes who Kylo is and who Luke finally became.

I mean, he clearly thinks he needed all of that to potentially hit him. He had to think it might not work.

I get he is an ego maniac, but he cant be that dumb to think he stands a chance against someone who just survived all that firepower. Then he literally sees the lightsaber he just destroyed and doesnt second guess it at all. That is a major issue. And another issue, if force projection is so draining it kills the person just from effort, how can someone survive all that physical damage? Its just a poorly thought out scene all around.

He did it as overkill. There has never been any evidence that a Jedi could be THAT powerful. Kylo himself took Luke out just by bringing a small building down on him...

  24. He thinks *he’s* that powerful. That’s what you’ve seen for two movies now, it’s literally the defining characteristic of him.

Jedi make lightsabers all the time. I don’t think it’s that strange. Luke’s had multiple.

We don’t know what it takes to do beside being very powerful, which Luke is. Also old. I don’t know what you mean by physical damage.

You haven’t given a reason why it’s poorly thought out though, you’ve just not understood who the main characters involved are ...

“Luke couldn’t have survived the firepower” “Leia can’t force pull in space”

We’re told in the movie that the force binds together the universe, why would there be a rule book?
