  2. This movie has some of the best written moments in any Star Wars film.

I can't let the "time to get new writers" thing go.

Trevorrow would've been disastrous in the chair for IX. Thank the Force Kennedy had the good sense to fire him.

  6. Dying down? Hah. I'm at an all time high! It's like when an album comes out, I wanna spend my time within it, let it envelop me. Not move onto the next thing.

I don't think it's that ridiculous a take. I know Rian wrote the script for this one and obviously didn't for The Force Awakens, but I think whoever "helped" him do rewirites to include more TFA character storylines as the reports stated definitely needs to be replaced. We need fresh minds approaching this franchise with fresh ideas. Rian was a step in the right direction (I liked the movie overall) but I there was something missing here

I am also very glad this did not occur.

The visuals in this were mostly incredible (especially the Rey dark side cave scene)

I guess I meant to phrase it as now I can look forward to BP as the next huge blockbuster on the horizon haha. I am obviously still thrilled at how this turned out. I mean, I've been in here talking about it all day instead of working after all lol

I loved TFA alot, but something that I missed was that there weren't many moments that I could say rivaled the OG Trilogy. There were not many moments where i "wowed".

I thought this movie had so many amazing moments that were as good as the OG trilogy. So many beautiful lines. So many beautiful shots. This has been said but TFA was more consistent and had a better flow and structure. This movie had much higher highs. Lower lows. And thats what happens when you take risks. The thing people desperately wanted. But only if it worked out. not how risks works.

outside of the Yoda scene (which admittedly is one of the best written moments in the franchise) what were some of the other best written moments in here in your opinion? Just out of curiosity

That JW2 trailer is one of the worst I've seen in a long time. Keep Trevorrow away from SW for life

it was so bad haha. And Jurassic World was maybe the most disappointing movie i have ever seen in my life.

Same, JJ will “right the ship” for people pissed at this movie, and will continue the ride for the rest of us.

  17. It's kind of hard to judge this movie having only seen it once. Now that we've talked a lot about the themes and how they effect the character arcs of the movie, watching it again having that in mind will enhance the experience.

I don't want to say that the movie was too layered for people and that's why they didn't like it, but I think there is a lot more to unpack compared to TFA. Was Empire well received when it first came out? I want to say that it wasn't but now it's widely regarded as the best movie of the series. I think this will take some time to be appreciated.

I lost track of all the amazing shots in this thing. Johnson is a master visual storyteller.

The cave, the shot of Leia with the coat collar covering her mouth and looking out at Crait, the battle scene in the throne room (really every scene in the throne room), the iconic shot in the trailers of the speeders kicking up the red sand, the hypserspeed kamikaze sequence, the bombs dropping at the beginning, it was all just so incredible well-made.

    RE: Jurrasic World and Treverrow

wow most disappointing movie is hard for me to remember. I wasnt even disappointed at the prequels because I was too young when they came out.

  20. I agree with a lot of that. The risks were what I'm most happy about. And in a movie with this many moving parts, characters old and new, there was a high degree of difficulty. Some worked, some didn't. But most of the movie is very well written, and the character moments are easily some of the best we've had in a long, long time.

He didn't direct it, only co-wrote it and produced it, but yeah it looks terrible. Like, I thought the JW1 trailer looked decent when I first saw it, and the movie turned out to be mediocre; this looks awful, so I can only imagine how bad the final film will be.

During each of the moments that you just mentioned, minus Leias coat collar (which i still loved), and even more I cant think of I was like holy shit this is my favorite shot. Nope this is....nope this is.

One of the best shot scenes in all of Star Wars.

I think jurrasic world is my most hated movie that people genuinely love, mainly cause I don’t hear people raving about A Million Ways to Die in the West by Seth macfarlane.

Mostly that whole little bit, where it showed her close-up, showed a wider shot, showed her from behind almost in silhouette standing in the doorway, just something about the scale of it really hit me.
