This might take over second place from Infinity War

  5. Thinking about this more this morning. Really wish I could get back to the theater this week for a second viewing.

Just curious on everyone's thoughts about Peter ending this film with no personal relationships in tact. I feel like that is a cornerstone of who Peter is - balancing his duty as a hero with his responsibility to those in his life. Where the film left him, he has nothing to balance and if Spider-Man 4 just goes back on this with him rekindling his relationship with MJ and/or friendship with Ned, then this ending will seem a little odd.

I loved the scene early in the film where Peter and MJ discuss Peter making unilateral decisions. That was a moment in a lot of films that would have led to some forced conflict for the main characters but they handled it so well and showed this really great connection. I feel like the ending of this takes away MJ and Ned's agency and is Peter again making a decision on his own, regressing that growth displayed earlier in the movie. I get that Peter didn't want to endanger MJ and Ned and perhaps he felt they were better off without him, but I dunno just feels off to me.

Also also, I keep thinking about that great shot of Peter webslinging through the power lines - damn I need that in poster size on my wall.

The “greatest Spider-Man movie of all time” is No Way Home. Any other answer is cope.

  7. Curious about your thoughts of Spider-Verse? Do you hold those separately (animated vs live action) or just feel No Way Home is a better story/movie?

I think for me it's probably Spider-Verse, or Spider-Man 2 at the moment but despite probably seeming like a negative jackass in this thread, this is probably number 3 on my list.

I like Spider-Verse. I’d give it an 8.5/10 and rank it behind No Way Home, Spider-Man 2 and Homecoming. I’m just not a big fan of the animation they used. It looks pretty but stop motion or borderline stop motion just gives me a headache.

    Spider-Verse
    Spider-Man 2
    Homecoming
    Spider-Man
    Far From Home
    Spider-Man 3
    ASM
    ASM2

No Way Home too recent to rank but it could go as high as #2

    I can’t fathom not having Spider-Verse at #1

Yeah Spider-Verse is easy number 1 for me, pretty much perfect. The rest all have stuff I love in them with some issues.

  12. Probably overkill but it might’ve been cool to see ASM2’s Goblin teaming up with Spideys to save Raimi’s Goblin - Saving a Norman when he couldn’t save his own.

  13. Wait - scratch that. Sounded cool in my head for a second but then realized that ASM2's Harry showing up would be tough with AG and basically copy MCU Peter's purpose in this to a degree. And that, kids, is one of many reasons I'm not a screenwriter haha.

Absolutely the same sentiment I expressed earlier in this thread; glad to see someone else agrees.

I hope the first thing MJ does when she gets her memory back is slug him.

this is not better than the first two raimi movies but it’s still good

Spiderverse is a better movie than this for me personally

Also, the first Raimi movie really did not age well for me. Too corny.

  17. Still thinking about this and how it ties together with the first two movies. Does anyone else feel as though the big push of the "great power..." line in this feels redundant to this triology?

It's a smaller scale for sure, but Peter goes through the same thing in Homecoming when he chooses to skip the dance to take on Vulture. Likewise with Far From Home, he initially gives up on being the hero to give Mysterio EDITH but then chooses to do the right thing because he has the power to do so and takes on Mysterio.

It seems like there's a lot of talk about that in No Way Home when it's seemingly something we've seen him tackle previously. And in both prior films it felt like those were the moments that would signal that Spider-man has truly "arrived". Just curious on anyone's thoughts on that or if I'm missing something/over simplifying.

  18. The more I think about it, the more I hate how Ned could all of a sudden open portals and conveniently brought in the 2 Spideys.

Weren't there a million other better ways to do that?

My hottest Spider-Man movie take is probably that the first Raimi movie is my least favorite one

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

dunno if it got mentioned in the thread already, I missed a lot of pages the first day this was out lol, but it was interesting how differently the scene with Wong played out from what was in the first trailer? feel like I preferred the version with him concretely saying not to cast the spell but maybe they reshot because Strange came off a bit too reckless?

Some of the green screen was distractingly bad. Specifically everything that takes place during the Statue of Liberty.

CGI was a bit wonky at times too.

I wish they would go back in and touch it up for home video and streaming release.

  23. When you try and cope by blaming others as “cope” never works out how you want it… too transparent.

Out of all the MCU films I believe this one had the shortest post production time so the not so good FX makes sense, but they had to release a Spider-Man film every 2 years according to the contract so they didn’t want to push it to the spring which would have allowed more time to touch up the effects.
