This was the most comic book movie I've ever seen. It's the most Spider-Man movie I've ever seen. It's such a delight in every way that I hoped it'd be. I cannot wait to see it again. And again.

Every single frame of this is just pure art. And the soundtrack is absolutely killer

I wish there was more Nic Cage but that’s a super
Minor criticism. It does everything right

My friend: "I'm still processing how amazing it all was."

Me: "It really was Amazing. Spectacular. Sensational. Superior. Ultimate. Friendly Neighborhood. Web of. Tangled Web. Webspinners. Mary Jane Loves. 2099. Team-Up. Super Stories. Blue. Renew Your Vows. /Deadpool. and Wolverine. and the X-Men. Astonishing."

    That joke never gets old.

But, really, man... I can't say it exceeded my expectations per se, 'cause I consumed and obsessed over everything and expected EVERYTHING. But, it met all of my expectations, living up to all of my hopes for what this film should be.

It really is a film about being Spider-Man. About what that means. It has fun with it, but it's not too meta or too cute. It's referential, but still so sincere. It loves Spider-Man, top to bottom, highs and lows. And, it gives you a compelling case for why you should, too. Not that I've ever needed any help loving this character.

I think I was most surprised by how much this sincerely loved the comics in a way that put other films to shame. References to Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, John Romita, Brian Michael Bendis, Sara Pichelli, Jason Latour, Robbi Rodriguez.

At the end, they had a quote from Stan Lee about anyone being a superhero, followed by a thank you to both Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. So wild that, in what's been undeniably the year of the Spider-Man, both of the men who created him passed away. Stan & Steve were both messy human beings with rough qualities, but man, the way they came together for this character, and his flexibility & longevity... So special.

Oh, and by the way, the post credits scene had an exciting fan-favorite character and a hilarious gag. And, they showed the Spider-Mobile at one point in the film. :spiderman::miles::heart:

Are there any moments taken from the Spider-Men comics in this movie? Other than Peter and Miles being together, of course.

Perfect film. Basically the LEGO Movie but Spider-Man. Every frame is hitting me with stuff I've never seen before, animation wise. The sound track and sound design are impeccable ( the different spiderpeople have their own art styles and theme music/sound effects are you KIDDING ME). Combines the pacing and humor of the lego batman/teen titans movies with the stakes and impact of a marvel movie, making it better than all of them. The best super hero movie since The Dark Knight. Please let it be as influential.

.....I'm gunna go to another preview screening of this on Saturday.

Kinda? The whole premise of the main villain having a device that brings a Peter into Miles' world when Miles' Peter is gone is the same. But, it's a different villain w/ different motivations, and the dimension stuff is different, etc.

Like with most comic book movies, it's mostly using the broad strokes.

What's the difference? Just having blue on the bottom instead of red?

I guess it is the crystalized red portion and then the blue nike logo and blue bottoms that make the difference.
