I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

Album is one of the best of the year and it makes me sad that it hasn’t stuck with people much

I don’t like this as much as BFE, but I still really enjoy it. It grew on me a lot. Given it plenty of listens and forsee many more to come

I enjoy it a lot, but it kind of suffered from The Menzingers, Blink, TBS and Gaslight all coming out shortly it.

It’s my AOTY for sure. Can’t wait for those headline dates. I’d love to see No Joy in full. Wonder if they are bigger in Europe bc they are heading back there after the Hot Mulligan tour. Listened to Dylan’s episode on Lead Singer Syndrome. Was a good one.

Bummer about Trevor, hope all is well.

This is undoubtedly going to be somewhere in my top 3-4 for the year. In pretty much any other year, it'd have likely been my #1, but 2023 has been absolutely insane as far as bands I love putting out records I'm enamored with. This is pretty much in a 4 way tie with Fireworks, Hot Mulligan, and Blink right now.

I get they are an opener, but a 7-song set is super disappointing. I am seriously considering skipping out on SLS on Saturday because I really don't want to show up to the venue at 7:30 - get pretty much the same songs I got from SLS a few months ago AND then have to sit through Heart Attack Man and then wait until 9:30 for for HM to go on.

Hopefully SLS will be doing a headliner soon.

yeah I'm bummed I have to see a short SLS set, sit through fart attack man and then finally see HM

I'm bummed about the length of their set as well, but I figured it wouldn't be much longer than we're getting. The HM set looks excellent, though. Still sucks that I have to sit through HAM. I'd be pretty indifferent about them if their social media persona didn't make them seem like everything I hate about this scene.

I was hoping SLS and HAM would get equal length. That is a bit disappointing but as someone who has never seen SLS I’m excited to see them. The HM setlist is terrific though, I’m glad they are playing almost the entire new album.

They might very well not do a headliner soon if people don't show up to their set even if just for support reasons ;)) you'll be there, you're paying for it, you could at the very least help to make it more noticable that the room's clearing out for HAM and go grab a drink then or something. It's important to help showcase bands do draw an audience, I think

edit: just trying to cheer you to go for it of course ;D it's not criticism

I don’t really care for Hot Mulligan and Heart Attack Man is meh so going just for a 7 song SLS set would be a bit disappointing.

I don’t think they have done a full US headliner since before the pandemic but maybe it’s just too expensive for them?

I’m damn near 40, haha. I can’t recall the last time I went to a show for more than 2 bands. Honestly been at least 7 years since I showed up early enough at a show to catch the first of three bands (or in this case second of four bands). I know it sounds awful, but I really don’t want to be standing around at a show for 3 1/2 hours.

Plus, I’m going solo (which I prefer tbh) but it’s one thing to go solo for a show when you’re showing up immediately prior to the headliner going on vs being there solo for 3+ hours, multiple stage changes, etc.

It’s the difference of leaving my house at 6:45 or at 8:45 and wrestling with what to do is already giving me anxiety. With 2 kids at home, it’s so much easier for me to go to shows later because leaving later takes more of a burden off my wife who has to take care of the kids, feed em, put ‘em to bed, etc.

I’ll probably end up going for SLS but I’m gonna be furious from 8 15 to 9 30 standing there waiting for HM.

Also…complete side note but does anyone else find it odd at SLS’s opening song on the set? You could have given me 20 guesses as to what they’d open their set with and that would not have been one of them.

I am very worried about the future of the band. Dylan said about a year ago they were only guaranteed to do one more album and after that it was all up in the air. They’re all in their mid-30s already and for sure probably aren’t making much, if any, money at all. Trevor stepping down from this tour also probably isn’t a great sign. And while I really like No Joy, the overall reaction from fans seems super split and they don’t seem to have much momentum. Being pegged under HAM on this tour is such a bummer, too.

Really lucky I got to see them headline back in May.

Honestly I got a balcony seat for this show tomorrow and I’m THRILLED to be sitting (not standing) through all the openers lol. Even if I like 2/3 of them.

I had generally felt pretty gloomy about the band’s outlook going forward based on things Dylan has said on social media before, but I thought he sounded a lot more positive about it in long form on Lead Singer Syndrome.

Totally understand that! I think what I've been exposed to my whole life way too much, is sort of a bad influence hahh, meaning people in my family are pretty auto-destructive at times, it goes a long way - and I'm closing in to be closer to your age now too, I'm still like half the menace my brother is at 40 (and with 3 kids). Whatever you choose, I hope you can have energy and time for that (and maybe catch them too, skip HAM and go grab something to eat hahah), have fun!

ps. also, yesterday I totally forgot about Hot Mulligan and reading "HM" got me thinking of Have Mercy the whole time
