I wasn’t sold on HM until they opened for TWY and blew me away. The “opening” set was almost like a coheadliner in terms of crowd response and intensity. The band has blown up a ton since touring resumed post Covid.

Their last two albums are easily two of the best pop punk albums of the last five years. The dual vocals are done extremely well and they sound fantastic live. I wouldn’t put them above TWY personally (yet), but they are definitely producing some of the best tunes in the genre. I can’t wait to see the new songs live and see them play a longer set. It’ll be nice to finally see SLS live too. As someone who didn’t feel comfortable going to shows quite yet, I missed them on the TWY tour and they never got to do a true headliner for Brave Faces. I feel like they would have exploded if Covid didn’t kill a lot of that albums momentum since they couldn’t tour on it for a few years.

    u wut m8?

I had never listened to Heart Attack Man until today. Wtf was that? Probably the most cringey shit I’ve ever heard. Music videos were unwatchable. So disappointing that they are above SLS on the billing.

Gonna be a real weird one having SLS singing songs inspired by the real life anxiety caused by never ending mass shootings followed HAM singing songs that make light/romanticize thoughts of killing people with guns. Fuck that band so much.

Take arms, it'll all blow over Prestigious

I really, really love the new Hot Mulligan record, enough to make me retroactively appreciate their other records/eps.. still a fair step down from The Wonder Years for me, but TWY has the benefit of being a high school discovery and not me nearing 30.

I'm gonna sound so old saying this, but if he would just sing and tone down the shouty sing thing he does just a little bit, they'd probably be one of my favorites. The melodies are total earworms, the delivery is just too much for me to keep me coming back.

Yeah, though I pretty vehemently disagree with them being better than Dan in terms of vocals/lyrics in the present day, I do think they're incredibly good and, along with SLS, are the only bands in this general scene that have struck a chord with me in over a decade. Those two are the closest bands I've found to making me feel like TWY did (and still does) back when The Upsides came out.

I never liked/disliked HAM - a few songs made their way into my Spotify algorithm over time - but YIKES now that I know more about them. That Like A Kennedy song is so cringy too.

Just got tickets for Boston. $29.99 before fees. About $41 with. They have an early entry ticket for $60, too. Doesn't seem to include any other perks. Wasn't willing to pay that.

Yeah, Portland had a “VIP” that included early entry and a poster for an additional $30. Not really worth it to me. Got my tickets though! $125 for 2 balcony tickets is rough, but my old ass wants to be comfy and the balcony of the Crystal is a fantastic view.

Yeah, having been on the guardrail for HM during the last TWY tour, this is very much not a pit show for me, haha. I'll be camping out on the bar rails at HOB. I would've sprung for seats had the views there not been so unreliable.

    Things have changed.

"And I Smoke" hit me like Fred-just-in-the-band TBS did back in the day. Just a monstrous Warped Tour song that would've gotten the biggest pop of the day on the main stage.

  20. Thought I was already at maximum excitement for this, then “Pendulum” finally clicked for me today. It might even be the best of the singles.

Wasn't expecting a song all about the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the perspective of Nick Fury but I'll take it /s

Another banger. I do miss the righteous outrage that made BFE so good, though it could be just the choice of singles I suppose.
