Light Blue.

 

Kinda shocked at the lukewarm Lush takes, ngl. Record is unbelievable

 

Early highlight is the light blue, forever (sailing) double whammy

 

I fucking love this.

I was never the biggest fan of her prior work (thought she was good, but nothing ever fully clicked, essentially) but this album is absolutely phenomenal. perfect for the weather here in coastal nc rn too. I think this is a major leap in songwriting for her, and it resonated with me emotionally immediately, which is pretty rare anymore for me.

 

Lush was very much my speed in 2018 and this is very much my speed in 2021

 

Probably unpopular opinion but a big part of Lush’s depreciation for me was Lindsey’s voice, one day I put on that record and suddenly found it really grating. I’m still good for a couple songs here and there but to this day I can’t really make it through the whole thing. She sounds sooooo much better here, idk if it’s just cause she got a little older or if it’s her melodies or what, but it’s making me really happy

 

I think I missed Lush, for whatever reason, but this is the bomb.

 

“Pristine” is definitely essential

My biggest complaint is that this album is too short.

If you like artists like Snail Mail (which obviously we all do) or Soccer Mommy, I recommend checking out the new Hana Vu record that dropped today. She’s only 21 and just put out a very solid indie rock record that y’all will probably like.

huge huge vocal performance. so so good. love her oscillating between her higher and lower register.

 

yeah, her vocal control here is different. I don't think folks realize what she's doing.

 

Yeah, I'm eating my earlier words about the vocals being too rough. Her performance across this record is one of the best I've heard in a while.
