Bill Lawrence really dropping the emotional heaviness this week.

D-Train also had a good showing

Great episode but next week's the finale ☹️

Hits similar beats to emotional episodes of Scrubs. I’m sold on it

I feel like it’s struggling with what kind of show it wants to be. I enjoy watching it, but it’s all over the place. Cheesy and completely over to top in some parts, while holding back on the drama/seriousness when it should lean into it.

I have yet to watch this, and therefore have no comments on the validity of the article in this particular instance, but I thought it was interesting. Seems like someone at the BBC (Ralph Jones) really has something against this show....

How Shrinking perpetuates Hollywood's most sexist cliché

EDIT: Spoilers for other media in here (No time to die / 65)

Not reading that cause the show is good and enjoyable.

Fair enough. I personally do not understand why 'fridging' is an inherently bad thing anyway. The trauma of losing a loved one is a common and relatable event, and often can result in profound realizations/changes in outlook on life, and can lead to interesting storytelling (and even those of us who haven't experienced it, can relate to it via our own fears about it happening).. Sure it can be done poorly and as a cliche adding nothing new, but on face value, I've yet to fully understand why it's an automatic red flag until its execution has been seen.

Like I said though, I haven't seen this show to know how it handles the topic. I literally read this article today and saw this thread pop up so thought I'd share it here.

Yes. Fridging is the most annoyingly, unnecessarily critiqued trope. It’s okay if a characters spouse dies. I think this show has done a decent job with it so far, the picture book last episode being a good scene.

I read that headline and immediately "nope'd" it. Every human deals with loved ones' deaths and it's always going to be a common theme in art. It's literally the human experience to cope with grief and mortality. This show also seems to center around the main character's grief and has handled it sensitively so far. What a dimwit that writer is.

…the bigger reasonable beef in that article is that the majority of shows are written by male writers with white male protagonist. Not that characters have loved ones who die.

  16. Aw that was a nice ending to that ep for Paul.

The scene where Gaby picks up Paul was gold. I couldn't stop laughing.

I absolutely love this show. It hits all the right spots, and now I really cannot wait for Season 2. Honestly, the whole cast deserves an Emmy.

Last episode was a little weak. The (main) ending also felt very Bill Lawrence-y

I wonder if we don't get the ending tag if there was no 2nd season wild turn of events there

  22. D-man is gonna be a B-Man.

Solid finale, but ya idk how I feel about the ending. I like that it looks like they're going to have consequences for Jimmy's therapy methods, but idk how they're going to deal with THAT lol.

Loved this. I wasn’t expecting it to end with a murder (good for her), though. Kinda crazy, haha.

Loved this. New favorite show this year so far (until Succession returns of course. Apologies to my beloved Poker Face/The Last of Us)

Excellent first season. I… may even like it more than Ted Lasso  Love how this is also an amazing comeback for Jason Segel.
