You're right, and I admit I actually don't know if all the people pictured on the Shang Chi Twitter page are associated with the movie or not, so it could just be a coincidence, but Brandon Davis from ComicBook.com is also tweeting that they specifically confirmed he's part of the cast, so...

There may or may not have been a leaked image of said actor a few months ago.

it would make sense for him to appear considering he directly ties into the pre-cursor for introducing one of the two main characters of this movie

His dad was hyped up recently because he played a decent role in the recent Secret Wars. In that be is the emperor of the K’un-lun region of Battleworld. He was known as the ‘Master of the Ten Rings’ and would hold a tournament every 13 years to determine who would be the new ruler of the region. Shang-Chi eventually wins (after some nice family drama and a murder) and becomes the new ruler. The more I think of it, the more I think that version had a solid influence on Wenwu in this film.

Reviews looking good from the premiere. Friend is looking to rent out a theatre the Monday after release and I'm tempted.

    So assuming that this weekend...

I was at the premiere Monday night (proof here). The initial reactions have been accurate. It's a great movie with stunning visuals and fantastic choreography. Also, after seeing the film that quote from Figgles about the film focusing on the father and son relationship seems very true.

As far as the actor who was discussed, spoilers:

He's in the movie and he's wonderful comic relief. I also took a picture with him on the red carpet and we spoke about Shakespeare. I told him that I'm a teacher and will be showing my students. He asked about what I taught and The Tempest came up. He talked to me about being in the play while with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Very happy to hear that the struggle between Shang-Chi and Wenwu is the focus of the film. Feige also stated that Wenwu is the heart and soul of the film. Do you think this a well?

I thought this was okay. It's kind of mid-tier Marvel. I liked the fights and how they were closer to dances than just punch-em-ups. They make some interesting artistic choices with the visuals, especially with the fantasy animals.

One of the big problems is Wenwu is a much more interesting character (and Tony Leung a better actor) than Shang Chi/Simu Liu, who's kind of a lackluster hero. With that said, the movie doesn't really delve into Wenwu as much as it should, waving off a montage of global atrocities he caused throughout history by basically saying "Well he fell in love so he's good now!" Awkwafina is also kind of underused and falls flat as the comic relief.

I hope it does well so we can get more blockbusters with mostly Asian casts. But this didn't hit for me as much as I had hoped.

I’ve heard that about 20% of the dialogue is in mandarin. Is this true? I wouldn’t complain but I’m surprised Marvel would do it.

I wish Grace Randolph would disappear forever. They almost assuredly did ti in exchange for media coverage/flying her out to the premiere. It sucks.

I don’t know who Grace Randolph is. Nor do I follow movies as much as everyone else on this site seems to

    Birds of Prey reshoots[edit]
In June 2020, Randolph reported that the film Birds of Prey underwent “massive reshoots” to take out an alleged "dick pic" storyline. Director Cathy Yan denied the allegation while downplaying the severity of the reshoots and in turn criticized Randolph for her lack of knowledge.[39] Randolph defended her report, leading to a exchange between the two on Twitter with Yan questioning Randolph's credibility as a journalist.[40]

    Pedro Pascal and The Mandalorian[edit]
In September 2020, Randolph claimed in a reaction video on Beyond the Trailer that The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal quit halfway through filming the second season over being denied more screen time without the titular character's helmet on.[41] Randolph further alleged that Pascal's behavior led to Lucasfilm killing his character off and replacing him with Boba Fett (played by Temuera Morrison) for the third season.[42] Randolph's claims were picked up by mainstream media outlets. When Pascal was asked about them in an interview with The One Show, he categorically denied Randolph's claims; Pascal's stunt double confirmed in an Instagram post Pascal's involvement with the entire third season.[43][44] Randolph refused to retract her story,[45] arguing that the post-credits scene from The Mandalorian's second season finale, announcing The Book of Boba Fett, corroborated her claims.[46] Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian showrunner, later clarified that The Book of Boba Fett was its own series, separate from the third season of The Mandalorian.[47] Randolph's handling of the Pascal story was criticized by other journalists, who described her report as clickbait and singled out her lack of reliable sources; they also argued her claims of Pascal being uncooperative on set could have potentially damaged his reputation and career.[48][49]
