  1. This article did a pretty good job exploring it! Tbh it doesn't go that much deeper, it's just a way to not define non-men by maleness and womxn is a non-TERF alternative to womyn or wombyn

What does it mean to identify as a 'womyn?'

  5. I don't think the term was a TERF thing when it started out, but (and I could be wrong, so if anyone knows better plz correct me! It's hard to find anything conclusive when researching a lot of this)... like so many other things in life, it was taken and corrupted and turned evil by hateful people (TERFs).

Wombyn is TERFy and always has been. Not to mention, it reduces non-men to our wombs and like... that's gross no matter how you slice it.

I love that female country singers are speaking out about just how male dominated it is

Hey so real question that I got in a pretty big argument over yesterday. Does me being CIS mean I can't be a good feminist? Does it mean that the years I've spent listening and learning will never actually amount to anything?

I just tried to have a conversation and Im so defeated. People I want to keep safe and fight for throw name like, "imperialist chauvinist pig" at me and then say shit like "of course hes a male communist lmao" or "wow I cant beleive you created feminism, thanks so much." when I respond. People can't just be real fucking people, they have to be cyncical peices of shit who just want to hurt people because someone hurt them.

What's even the point of being here if the people you want to help want you dead?

I fucking hate this planet. Sorry to bother y'all with my. stupid rant.

  8. I've been there before on both sides, so I know how frustrating it is. I don't know if you said something that caused these responses, but as long as you're self-aware and willing to educate yourself in order to be a good ally, don't beat yourself up too much. Sometimes people have issues they have to figure out by themselves, and instead they choose to lash out at someone that doesn't deserve the bottled up anger. I wouldn't take it too personally, easier said than done I admit.

Maybe I just take it to personally. I just try to be a geniune person and it hurts when that's met with post-modern cynicism. I guess hurt people just hurt people.:-/

I think some people have suffered such trauma from oppressors that they're often reluctant to have them join a movement. I think all u can rly do is emphasize with their perspective and be aware of the space you're occupying. If you don't feel you're welcomed into a certain space then be aware of why, try to understand, and look for spaces u are welcomed in or ask how you can occupy the space productively. It's hard not to take it personally, but with activism comes a lot of people who have suffered a lot of trauma and process it and react to it differently.

This was interesting for me to read just as someone who thinks about plastic surgery a lot. It is about how young women are claiming their plastic surgery as an empowering feminist act. I always feel conflicted with ps (not with whether it's feminist because I don't think it is, but whether I'd do it). I feel like I probably wouldn't ever do it, but sometimes I get so tempted to do something for my nose and weak chin/jawline and then I grapple with how that goes against everything I believe in with feminism but then the pressure of beauty standards pulls. But then even more shallow I hold back on it because I would be mortified to have attn drawn to anyone noticing I got work done. Like I'd want them to notice I look "better" but not notice I got work done. Anyway this was an interesting read to me just as someone who struggles with image issues

Unfortunately in my botox and filler patients I see a lot more body dysmorphic disorder than I see genuine happiness.

This is always a fear too. To get something done and then never be satisfied and always find something else "wrong" and before u know it its like super botched and over the top. Do u bring BDD up to ur patients or do u just have to hold back and do what they want?

No I've never addressed it. What I'll do is mention they won't need another treatment for longer than they want. It's a bit subversive but like...you legit don't need botox more than every six months.

    "I'll chew on a dog!"

"I don’t think Donald Trump is racist,” said Caitlyn McKinney, one night in September over dinner at the Top of the Hill, a Chapel Hill restaurant with a view of the mountains. “He’s just making himself a consumable product,” said Cammie McMahan. Like Maggie, Cammie and Caitlyn said they believed the president’s stoking of race hatred was just politics—a kind of “branding.”

HOW IS THAT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM A GOOD THING?!

The song was appropriate for its time 60 years ago, so we should continue to play it.
The idea of slavery was appropriate for its time 300 years ago, so we should--

Sexual assault victims: That song's not okay.
People who've never been assaulted: yeahhhh fuck that noise.

Hayley Williams: I'm not comfortable with singing that song anymore.
Fans: But but but, what about NOSTALGIA?!?!?!
