I think part of it is Harvey is an asshole and no one likes him, Blake Lively can say her experience working with Woody Allen was pleasant also she's very dumb

Has anyone read Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture by Ariel Levy? I'm pretty into it so far.

That sounds really interesting. What are you liking about it? I may pick it up.

Guys, I think Sethy boy wants a pat on the back? The fuck does a joke at an award show do to help anyone?!

    Edit: my bad

Yeah his joke didn’t come off as angry at all. It normalized it. Pretty reprehensible to come out looking for kudos in this moment.

    Trigger warning for sexual assault

Seth has built his whole empire on jokes not far from rape-trivializing premises anyway. He was angry that he couldn't air a bit where Quagmire raped Marge Simpson. He's mellowed out a bit and shifted left but he's far from a hero thankfully.

'I had to defend myself': the night Harvey Weinstein jumped on me | Léa Seydoux

seydoux also experienced gross behavior by Kechiche on the set of Blue is the Warmest Color. Fucking atrocious.

@Spencer Control i love how even in these moments we're ironically not giving women any agency

also it's quite neolib to be like "we need more women in power" as if that's the solution lol

It's one of the problems that I believe is legitimate with the concept of outrage culture. His tweet still rubs me wrong as self congratulatory, but Im glad that the joke itself was approved by her

I totally remember once on AP talking about sexism in comedy and all these leftist dudes were like "lol knows nothing about comedy but thinks she can comment on it" like wow boys club, wut??

I remember that convo on AP. I made the mistake of bringing a post you'd made elsewhere up in that thread and thinking there could be a good discussion. There wasn't, it just went how you described it.

Im sorry about that @Kiana it didn't go how I thought it would.

I remember Kiana's post and from then on I stuck to a couple threads bc of the boys club that was AP. I got dragggged in the sports forum more than once so I was like fuck this shit lol

every subculture is a boy's club where guys vouch for their shitty friends but I see it the most acutely in comedy (Standup/improv/twitter)

and before anyone says anything I know women have known this forever

I thankfully never entered that sports portal of AP. Sometimes ppl will mention me in threads but I never got dragged into there and thank y'all for that!!

Thanks! and it's always weird cause like how "in" to comedy do you gotta be? Cause I grew up watching a lot of stand up comedy on tv and there are still some comedians I check for regularly. Like when does it become "acceptable" to have an opinion? And I know for them the answer is never. I've never had any desire to get into comedy circles or into comedy more in depth just cause that's the way it is and I don't got time for that bs lol

Yeah I’m not with it. Like, please let me know when exactly silence has ever benefited women.

well i've been severely stressed so it was just the right time for me to leave twitter, i didn't know that was going on

If I remember correctly, I think the women's march account may have started it? It makes no sense. I think a lot of people think it's a shit idea which is good bc it is.

I’m visiting family for the week and my bro’s gf is doing the boycott and I’m usually very loud about my opinions on these things but I pick my battles so imma let this slide. It doesn’t hurt anyone, she feels like she’s taking a stand I guess, so whatever.
