anyone have a good video rundown of the Toby incident?

 

Philip Defranco just posted a good video showcasing the rundown, as well as his reasons for not working with Toby anymore. The only thing he doesn't address is the screenshot of a text conversation that April (the alleged victim) posted that is also pretty damning.

It's just... there is so much wrong with that line of thinking and that's, as you aptly put it, so disappointing.

 

I don't know where to discuss this since you can't comment on news posts, but the whole TSSF dude literally kangaroo kicking a young girl on stage, into the audience is getting tons of praise on social media and that's incredibly frustrating.

What's even worse is that some people who just a few days ago shared that popular facebook post about what being "anti-establishment" really means in punk (standing up against fucked up institutions and sexism, racism, homophobia and other day to day bullshit), are now applauding this insane brohaviour under the guise that "this is punk" and if you fuck around with a band, you better be ready to be literally assaulted by the people you paid to see.

 

We can still comment on news stories, just moved the discussion off the front page to cut down on trolls and junk.

This guy I've been dealing with wrote me a letter that I got today and it was disturbing to say the least. I took it to the police and boom..I got a restraining order and he was served today in such a short time frame it made my head spin. It was that easy?

That's awesome but I'm fucking pissed about what it had to come to in order for someone to say hey, she might be in danger. I know it's a piece of paper and I'm still going to have to watch my back but maybe it will scare him off a little and he'll just forget about me.

I have a lot on my plate rn but I feel like I need to do something. Tell someone or talk to someone about better treatment for women and men in situations like this. It will most likely fall on deaf ears but it's worth a shot I think. I dunno just venting. :)

He really should of gone to jail, not just in the all rapists should go to jail sense, but they had all the evidence to do so.

 

I was 12 when this case happened (2003, right?). This piece was eye opening, all I remember hearing was how "likely" it was that the girl was crying rape because he didn't want to see her again, or something to that effect. Ugh.
