OKAYYYYY, a comment my dad made on FB just now:

I don't want to believe that he's forgotten what I told him. Or when I told him vs when it happened. He better not have been drunk, because I told him when he was driving us around in his truck.

I'm starting to have a hard time with this, too: I feel like when I bring up my assault I'm drawing a big "I'm a woman" sign on me, and I just want my family and everyone to see me as a guy. Don't know what to do with that.

i know this is days old, but in a former job i used "folks" when approaching a group of people. And i would get smart ass responses or downright hostility when i did because, on a few occasions, someone in the group would say that "folks" meant "old people" to them and i was calling them old.

sometimes no one wins. at anything.

 

I've seen it used a lot in the criticism of Trump in those leaked tapes, so can anyone link me to some articles on why it's shitty and reductive for people to invoke the whole "what if it was your wife/mother/sister/daughter/etc." in trying to empathize.

 

I've seen a meme (which of course I can't find now) that basically said " In additional to women being wives/mothers/sisters, women are also PEOPLE.

I liked that a lot because sure, I'm a daughter and a sister, but I identify as an actual human being first before any of those other things.

 

Sketchy as fuck and so sad.

I can only speak for myself but of all the pressures that I face in life, my career, family, friends, etc the pressure to be skinny and pretty is the main thing that tears me down everyday. I hate to admit this but it's the truth. I never feel good enough or confident in my appearance.

When girls say this it's not self deprecation. It's not fishing for compliments, it's a genuine, honest feeling.
