I had to just relisten to whole album on Spotify and mine was missing 3 or so of the bonus tracks. So unfortch I just gave the standard tracks a free pass

 

I have all the bonus tracks, and while good they don't beat out any regular tracks. Maybe Hair of the dog, but that's where the line is drawn.

Not too tough of a first round overall (the three b-sides/bonus tracks make those matchups pretty easy for me), but Blackout vs. Lungs Like Gallows was just brutal. Those are easily two of my favorite songs on this album. I give Blackout the slight edge just because of its last minute and a half. I love Lungs Like Gallows a lot though! I had it as my ringtone for a few months right after the album came out. Plus, I was born in 1984 haha

My personal favorite of the pre-Renacer era of the band although I’d probably show someone SS if they wanted to know what Senses Fail was. Sadly, I haven’t heard much of the b-sides from this album.

Family Tradition - essentially Can’t Be Saved 2.0, but with much better lyrics

Blackout - a great way to end a pretty dark lyrical album. Chorus is really catchy and that outro is ace

Ali For Cody - probably my least favorite song on the original track list

Yellow Angels - WAKE UP

Map The Streets - Four Years was an immediate standout for me when I first bought this album at a Circuit City (haha), but a song like Map The Streets has really aged well with me as I’ve gotten older

Hair of the Dog - Both of these songs have my favorite guitar work from the whole record. Love the imagery of the lyrics as well. Dan’s drumming is so good on both of these too. Tough matchup :/

Fireworks At Dawn - Lot of the album’s I was listening to at the time had these energetic, uptempo openers and Fireworks became a direct contrast to that. Sets up Lungs Like Gallows perfectly.

See, this is why I hate voting for albums I haven’t lived with for a long time. I’m going off first impressions. If it makes you feel better, Lungs is definitely one of my top songs on the album. It and Wolves at the Door rip hard!
