You also need to factor in that generally speaking the strongest or most immediate songs get chosen as singles more often than not

Yeah I can see successful singles going far for more mainstream bands, but this band is probably more like Thrice where singles don't really have an impact on which songs people know the most.

I dunno....Can't Be Saved was a prettt big song for them. I have friends who don't know this band but would know this song. I'll agree with the other "singles" they had moving forward.

 

Warming up the takes early: garden state, family tradition, and st Anthony all belong with CBS in the good-on-their-own-but-subpar-SF-songs-that-will-inexplicably-do-well bin

 

How is Garden State a subpar SF song!?! St. Anythony I totally understand though.

 

It’s the best of those 4 probably but still bottom half of LINAWR for me, which is one of my least favorites

 

The mini Gutiar solos and drumming in Garden State put it above average for sure. Family Tradition is just a better version of Can't Be Saved. St Anthony is good but nothing to write home about.

Also, Idk if people aren’t aware but the videos for calling all cars and can’t be saved were played on mtv and can’t be saved was a big single for these guys. It was also in guitar hero. I know plenty of people who only know can’t be saved

 

Can’t Be Saved on MTV is how I first came across SF so this is true
