Enjoying much more than I anticipated.

First Breath, Last Breath is a super sad song lyrically. Anyone know the story behind that one? Really makes me feel for the guy.

 

Buddy recently had his first kid and his wife almost died in child birth

 

Good grief. Hope she's doing well/the baby is healthy. I got that vibe from the song, but didn't know if she lived. Wow.

 

Come on the poetry of

Seriously tho the instrumentals on let it enfold you are awesome, also really love the vocal melodies, but the lyrics are sooo bad at times.

Great review drew! You did a great job mentioning the albums lyrical themes! I agree this is their best record. The fact that I’m playing it at all on pianos release day speaks volumes

I listened to the whole thing last night but I just went and picked up a cd and absorbing the lyrics now more in the car, he says "how the fuck am I supposed to wake up everyday and pretend that I love her as much as I miss your face" and it really hit me at that point and for the rest of the album. The honesty is crazy

 

That's my personal fav.

 

I was into this but found myself getting board around song 6 or 7.

Solid. I agree with most of your thoughts.

 

I’ve listened ~3 Times now and I have very complex thoughts. I don’t think it sounds anything like LIEY or SS, mostly like LINAWR, which is one of my least favorite SS releases. Yet I love the production and think it sounds huge and fresh. It’s fun to listen to. The lyrics have some of buddys best, but I think the past 3 SF records have an alarming amount of repetitive and clumsy, heavy handed lyrics as well. I think much of the guitar work is forgettable and there are a lot of little tweaks I wish he made to vocal melodies. But I love the way, as someone mentioned earlier, he turns 1 syllable words into 2 or 3. All these critiques and yet I love listening to it and keep alternating between this and PBTT. it’s just so damn fun.

 

after listening to that podcast that buddy did recently it definitely helped me appreciate the lyrics more.

 

Convinced a friend of mine, who has always hated senses fail, to listen to this album. He genuinely likes it haha. Kept talking about it all day.

 

Ok, so I have spent all day listening to this album and wow. I love it. A few times i almost teared up listening to this, because the lyrics hit close to home. First Breath Last breath is one of my favorites, along with Gold Jacket. And that album closer.... God damn. What a way to finish an album.

Buddy knocked it out of the park with this one.
