    Yeah, thanks man.

I didn't think you were defending him, kind of just trying to show people your view from a different perspective and that's fine with me.

As long as you're actively acknowledging the shitty things he's done and holding him accountable that's what matters.

Listen, I get nobody is perfect and life is tough and sometimes really shitty, especially when you have mental health problems, but I'll always say this:

Your mental health and trauma is never an excuse to inflict trauma on someone else.

You do the work you have to do and it can be a relationship struggle and people make mistakes, but there's certain things you need to be rightfully called out on and own up to.

    Couldn't agree more.

I've made a lot of mistakes on account of my disorder, but I will say that I did the best I could do after the damage was done. I got help, I got medicated. Along with that, I made amends with people I hurt, and I learned ways to live with it to not perpetuate that cycle.

I spent 7 years alone so I could work through my shit (literally moved as far as I could from everyone I knew) and I did. Not everyone can do that, but everyone with mental health issues can so something. The tough thing with Max is the idea that it was acceptable for a 22 year old, but it's actively concerning for a 37 (or whatever) year old to still be acting this way and only talking about his condition when it's to excuse himself.

I love when people on this site say “I’m not reading that” and then proceed to discourse about the post they couldn’t be bothered to read

I mean, when you’ve posted on here for over 20 years, sometimes you just know what you’re getting into without reading essays.

    Not newbie, I think Supporter

It's important to have discourse from an honest place and to allow people to have it.

Greg, I know what you mean and there are inflexible trolls out there but that does not seem to be the case from ThirdAtlantic. I think we're tired of discussions about Max, and Max hasn't left any room to give the benefit of the doubt. So it's almost triggering when people start up a conversation with any sympathy.

"Your mental health and trauma is never an excuse to inflict trauma on someone else." - Bingo.

    I can respect this take.

I will say that I am not a troll.
I'm an overly wordy dork who started typing and then hit send when he probably shouldn't have.

I appreciate that anyone having read it or not didn't come at me all that hot.

TBH this is the rationality that I was talking about in my original post. Even though I think that no one agrees with what I said (I was sincere in saying that I was trying to inject a neutral position but failed) I've still been treated pretty damn human.

NGL that's pretty rare these days. I was on the B9 Boards, I am not new to the internet :crylaugh:

You don't have to respect that. It's shitty to tell someone you're not going to read their post, then go on to accuse them of something. Greg knows that.

But as you can tell, it's just a weary, well-trodden topic that a lot of people make an account just to come in here to defend then disappear.

I can see it from both sides. After all, with the way I came in, for all anyone knew, that's exactly what I was looking to accomplish.

I did kind of word vomit into this community like I walked into the house and put my muddy work boots on the coffee table.

I've taken peeks around here throughout the day though, and I might stick around. Seems like a pretty cool place. I'd rather not be a shithead.

Well duh. I’ve been wanting a new Weatherbox album for years.

Only reason I’m interested in this “project” is because of Brian and Fred

Ima have to chock it up to the fact that Brian Warren and Fred Mascherino appear to be in Say Anything now because this is the best this band has sounded in years

Max sounds revitalized, this is the vibe that was glaringly missing on his past several records

I've never been a huge SA fan, but will definitely check out an album that involves Brian and Fred.

    The new song is...interesting?

Just weird timing after Sufjan released a near perfect record last week.

Yeah, the Sufjan references are weird coincidences for sure.

    I dig the song though!

Given Max's incredibly problematic behavior recently, I really hate that I think these are the 3 best SA songs in almost 15 years.

There are actually zero reasons to listen to anything Max puts out.

People certainly can, but there are a lot of reasons to stop supporting him and none to support.

edit: support, meaning giving his music listens even. Maybe support is too strong a word.

I enjoy listening to Say Anything, and the new songs sound great

    There’s 2 reasons

Did you mean there’s zero reasons for YOU to listen to anything Max puts out? Because I can’t fathom that someone here would parachute into a thread just to tell others what they can and can’t enjoy, that’s not something people on this forum would ever do, is it?
