I backed... good luck to them! $85k in two months seems like a tall goal, and Kickstarter is a platform that doesn't fund the creators if they don't reach their full ask.

If one of those tiers were "have Ace Enders & The Lumberyard produce the new Max Bemis record" then my pay would be gone for months .

 

Would love to get them on the new Flower Crown record, would be a dream come true for me

This seems kind of scattered and a bit worrisome, but I'd rather be wrong. It's just like a business based off of his scene celebrity. If it works more power to him though. I mean hell I'd love to have a 45 minute conversation with Max. Then I realized I'd be a grown man paying to talk with another grown man for 200 dollars and that, well is kind of sad. Even if he was my hero at one time.

 

Hell 25 new Max songs emailed to me for like 11 bucks AUD? That's an option I have no reservations about

I guess I just don’t feel like even the best writers can be expected to write quality stuff, on demand, based on requests about events from other people’s lives. That’s a lot to ask, and the writing can obviously be done, but I’m not sure if it can be done well. As an aspiring writer (blech, I know how that sounds and I want to barf just from saying it), I feel like that’s pretty sellouty, and would run the risk of having to crank stories out that have next to no resonance with me.

I also bought 3 song shop songs from him in the past and was disappointed by the lyrical and musical quality of all of them, so... shrug.

 

It's cool, none of the albums are actually included as rewards, they're all meant to be released for free so I just figured I'd clarify. Sherri explained in the campaign video that they weren't pushing their kids to be musicians or anything like that, just encouraging them to be creative.

 

I mean, as someone who went to school for screenwriting and such, that's what some of us writers do for a living. We write on demand because that's how we get paid.
