Anarchy My Dear was also a disappointment when it released, but mainly cause Max kept
Hyping it up as their firstly truly punk record, and a cousin to Is A Real Boy

Every album is the rebirth of Is A Real Boy, it's pretty comical.

It isn't the fan based obsessed about it either, it's just Max.

It's so funny that Max claimed they were real instruments

    I think it’s like 50/50.

There are credited musicians playing all of the orchestral parts, but some of it certainly sounds digital. I know Max produced that album.

Maybe he had them record parts, then he inserted them into the songs like samples.

Self titled is an absolutely fantastic pop album. IDOTG is 80% really good which is a great hit rate for a double album. IARB is a classic

If there are real people playing instruments on that album then the producer needs to never work in the industry again

Anarchy my dear was one of the first times I realized musicians are horrible at describing their own music. the problem wasn’t his that the songs weren’t what max said they were though, it’s that they were really bad songs on top of not being an album about anarchy

Hebrews has a lot of catchy melodies and stuff I like (the last time I think this was the case) but every single song has a moment where he’s like screaming about swastikas that makes me cringe out of my mind.

I remember him being adamant they weren't real instruments?

S/T is my favorite, I like a few songs off Hebrews and I think IDOTG is mostly great

The funniest thing is that last week as I was listening to the new singles I was curious and skimmed Hebrews because sometimes I’ll wind up liking an album I used to hate a decade ago but nope it’s every bit as bad as I remember if not somehow even worse

Yeah I never got the love for Hebrews either. The last decent album was s/t (and even that one is spotty). Been downhill ever since.

something I always say about this band is “no one can ruin a good song like Max Bemis”

There are sooooo many examples throughout their catalog of a really good song that is ruined by a single cringy as fuck moment or lyric.
