Hmm...yeah, I kind of disagree with most of this.

It is interesting to see how different people interpret the same things though.

At 15 minutes you’re towards the end of “Victorian & 21st,” then at 16 on the dot “Angel” starts with the line “maybe someday I can show you, how much you mean to me.”

Those two are probably my favorite segments of the whole track. Some of Chris’s most powerful vocals combined with perfect music.

    God damn.

It was quick and I ran into the room to hear it but maybe "All I'm Losing is Me"? Was anyone by chance recording it? It was right after they did the 60-second Sunday recap.

    That’s ...very strange.

Does anybody remember a short-lived skateboarding tv show in the 00’s that I believe was hosted by Tony Hawk? It used the intro riff to “Cars and Calories” as it’s theme song. Pretty weird.

...unless I dreamed all of that. I can’t find proof of it online, haha.

I just looked into that. Seems too modern. I’ve gone down this particular internet rabbit hole before, and the closest I’ve gotten is a video of Tom Green and Tony Hawk fucking around, haha.

I think Angel is my favorite section of 29. So beautiful and heartbreaking.

    Did someone post this?

"In regards to "29" and those conscious musical nods, I have to mention that I noticed the "Victorian & 21st" part of that song scans almost perfectly with Mariah Carey’s "We Belong Together."

I’m glad you mentioned it! That is one of my favorite songs. That song was actually pretty special for Luella’s mom and me so it’s absolutely in the DNA of "Victorian & 21st," which is about meeting her when I was at my loneliest. There are so many reasons why that Mariah Carey song was part of my spirit when I was writing."

  19. I so dig this record, and I especially like the three songs that were released originally now that I understand where they fit.

If you listen to the music in their bumpers, they play all sorts of stuff you'd never expect.

Any time i hear one that i wouldn't expect I'm always thinking how cool it is that someone who listens these bands gets to give them some sort of exposure, in their own small little way, in this day and age. I would love to have that be part of my job.

I know Mariah Carey's We Belong Together was mentioned as influence in 29 from the Billboard article, but does anyone else hear Pat Benetar's We Belong in the Angel section?

Sounds like he really misses his ex-wife.
