I remember listening to Little Esther interview Sasheer a while after it happened and the moment it was brought up, Sasheer got real awkward and refused to talk about it

 

Taran Killam’s interview on “I Was There Too” sums the situation up well, basically how they thought it was a bad idea, but Lorne wanted to ahead with it and then told them to go easy on him. He said he never played along with any jokes and was terrible in general.

A) it should’ve never come to this in the first place; and,
B) it’s really bizarre and bad to praise the racist moron so highly while announcing you’ve fired said racist moron for being a racist moron

 

I should really emphasize, though, that I am honestly floored that Lorne caved, as opposed to defiantly digging his heels in and at least waiting until mid-season to quietly let him go

 

With "SNL" hiring him, he was going to make bank whether he was part of the cast or if he got fired. At least now his racist garbage will be relegated to his target audience of The Bonfire and Legion of Skanks.

The worst thing about this whole ordeal, and it couldn't be helped obviously, is that all of this calling out has given his bullshit a pretty large amount of free press. How many people have said things like "Thanks for bringing this to my attention, subbing to his Patreon as we speak" in the replies to all of these high-profile call-outs on Twitter? It really, really sucks but like I said it can't be avoided and at least he isn't going to be on SNL.

The cognitive dissonance of trying to brag about being “funny” enough to get SNL while also trying to diss SNL by being “more of a MadTV Guy” is legitimately astounding. Somebody needs to come get this man he’s too mad
