Really seems like Murphy is planning on starting his comeback this year. He already filmed that movie with Oscar potential that I forget the name of right now, he's filming Coming to America 2 right now and he's also apparently been seen hanging around comedy clubs lately

 

The Dolemite movie? He tried a comeback with Dreamgirls but a month later Norbit came out. Then he tried going back to his comedic form with Tower Heist and was originally going to host the Oscars a few months later but then the show's producer Brett Ratner dropped a gay slur on Howard Stern and later quit the ceremony to save face and Murphy followed.

Honestly, considering the amount of verbal abuse she's had to take for the last few years, I'm not surprised she's just done.

I don’t blame her at all. The SNL grind has to be grueling, especially for people that are a little bit older. Good for her.

I’m very worried about Pete. Dude is just not well I feel. Hopefully he rebounds. I don’t think it’s fair to mock him after his meltdown considering he’s stated how he suffers from Depression/bipolar behavior

 

other than his use of the word “Retard” I really didn’t think that his rant was that bad. He was frustrated that everyone was using their phones which is something most comedians have issue with. He could and should have handled it much better (and should have dropped that word from his vocabulary 10 years ago) but I get the frustration. Even during him telling the audience off about it, people are still recording.

 

The r word is certainly inexcusable

 

Really happy Leslie found a new gig where she gets to be front and center. Also hell yeah Supermarket Sweep is coming back that show was the best.

 

As much as I like Leslie, live sketch comedy wasn't really her forte imo so I'm not too broken up about her leaving, she'll definitely shine more elsewhere. Her highlights were always the Weekend Update bits so hopefully her standup career can take front and center along with her hosting and movie duties now

 

That's how it usually is when they cast people who were primarily stand ups. They can be good writers and WU talking heads, but they don't always translate to sketch performing. I remember even when she started out in sketches, it was cringeworthy how bad she was at reading lines and knowing her cues. She got better over time but the success rate for standups isn't high.
