Overall good finale, not much I disliked but also not a ton of things that wowed me either

 

Pretty disappointing episode for a finale hosted by one of the funniest people in the business.

This was a really strong season overall though, there were only two outright bad episodes (Rockwell and Barkely) imo



I kept a running ranking of the episodes out of boredom and here it is

Glover> Ferrell> Chance> Franco> Hader> Mulaney> Brown> Haddish> Gosling> Gadot> Boseman> Fey> Portman> Chastain> Nanjiani> David> Ronan> Hart> Schumer> Rockwell> Barkley

 

Yeah most of that was pretty bad, especially for Tina Fey

 

Franco, Haddish, Gadot, Brown, and Portman were my standout eps I think.

Looking at the list of hosts, I’m actually kind of bummed I didn’t like this season more. Love way too many of those people to not feel stronger about this collection of episodes as a whole.

 

I think I laughed the hardest at Aidy dressed up as that woman who unnecessarily called the cops on the African-American real estate investor in the credits.

 

I thought it was the white woman who called the cops because she saw people grilling food in a public park

 

Think it was a reference to this

 

Ah, nvm. Mixed up the videos in my head.

 

the plot was also pretty much Don't Think Twice

 

Love a good Sopranos cold open

 

Glover’s ep best of the season by far

 

But come on - “Papyrus” is the best sketch of the season.

Super underwhelming finale. I thought this season was mostly bad with some excellent stuff mostly from the featured players. I hope everyone gets to stick around for the next season!

Also, did this finale contain the most inside baseball comedy jokes of any SNL episode ever? I feel like there's been some serious navel-gazing the last few weeks.

Love Papyrus. Hardest laughs off the top of my head this season were Gift Wrap, Natalie’s Rap 2.0, and Za

 

Mrs. Gomez, American Girl Store, Za, Boseman's Black Jeopardy, most of Donglover's episode, Fish Dreams

 

This still remains my favorite

 

This episode was a bummer. I was also looking forward to the Nicki performances but they were super underwhelming. She barely rapped along her own vocals.

 

There was a lot of great and a lot of mediocre this season for sure

I feel like Luke is gone and I hope this doesn't happen but it feels like Mckinnon is about ready to be done

 

Kinda agree and also Mikey and Alex should also be bumped up to repertory players

 

Yeah it's crazy they're not yet
