wild matchup, but it's gotta be Rumours, I love them both but have more personal connection to the Mac

As a big Fleetwood Mac fan my vote goes to Rumours.

That’s no discredit to Rage as their album is incredible in its own right.

I actually enjoyed the Rage album way more than I expected. But, IMO, Rumours is one of the most staggering pop albums ever made, with so much mystique and mythology around it, that it was going to take quite a lot for me not to vote for it in the first round.

Tusk is a nice counter weight to Rumours, just as good but a way different vibe

S/t -> Rumours -> Tusk is a hell of a three album run

well isn't the implication you think it's bad haha?

rumours is amazing. are there a couple eh songs yes. are there a couple straight magic songs and a lot of very great ones also yes. the sound is great but it's second to the songs

A record of how little much little details matter regarding Tusk:

First heard Tusk on the 2004 reissue CD. Fell in love with “I Know I’m Not Wrong” in part because the hook (I think a mixture of accordion and harmonica) at the end is just one of those things that hit me just right and made my hair stand up. And then the fade into the outro guitar solo I thought was genius.

Listened to the 2015 remaster and was APPALLED. Totally different version. Different vocals. No harmonica. No outro guitar. It went from one of my top 100 songs of all time to…a pretty good album track.

Turns out, the version on the 2004 reissue was NOT the original album version. The (imo) vastly inferior version is the one that was on the original record and was restored in 2015.

The line between good and all-timer is absolutely hair thin sometimes.

Edit: And I'm pretty sure that of SIX versions of the song included on the deluxe edition of the 2015, NONE of them are the 2004 CD version.

I completely agree that the run from s/t -> Rumours -> Tusk is incredible and is some of my favourite music of all time. Whilst Mirage wasn’t as much of a knockout I still stand by Tango in the Night being a massive record and a great way to end the classic line up on. It still blows my mind that we never got another record from them all together again though.

Lindsey is such a genius in the studio and that didn’t stop after his departure from Fleetwood Mac the first time. Imo Out of the Cradle is his best solo album and for anyone that hasn’t listened to it who enjoys Fleetwood Mac, I highly recommend it as it’s the perfect blend of the mad scientist Lindsey and the melody mastermind behind some of Fleetwood Mac’s best hit songs.

I’ll be seeing him solo finally later this year in support of his s/t album which is also my favourite from him since Out of the Cradle.

Lindsey’s newest album from last year is honestly a pretty solid listen

I think it’s his weakest since he restarted his solo career…which is mostly a credit to how damn good that run has been
