    Just a friendly reminder

The more I think about it, the biggest problem with the movie was not that the characters weren't uninteresting but that all of them were interesting but didn't have time to be used enough to really sink in. I'd love books or comics written to flesh out pretty much every main character.

not a star wars fan but i LOVED THIS!!!! It may have slogged at first but by then I just felt so much more satisfied than in force awakens (which i pretty much hated).

    Good job! thumbs up

Fuck the haters of both this and TFA, haha. This was also great. Totally rewatchable and interesting. Very ANH like in pacing. Worthy Star Wars movie.

I enjoyed this a lot. I agree it started out slow but the second half was obviously much better and had a lot more action. I loved how this movie looked. It felt like it was made in the 70s/80s at times and not in a bad way.

I loved this movie. I'm so glad the franchise got that dark and gritty "adult" film with this one.

9.9/10. Loses .1 points for not having any A-Wings.

That Hammerhead scene was so tight.

  11. Where was the mention of Hera? I completely missed it.

I feel fairly satisfied with this. The pacing of this film for me dragged a bit as others mentioned, but wow the action was fantastic! Love the characters, wish we spent more time with them. The CG made me cringe. Vader was in just the right amount for me. Actually liked the transition they decided on (since no crawl). This movie will make future viewings of ANH better. I feel as though I will enjoy this more with a second viewing, so I'm seeing it again Sunday. Also got a free mini-poster which was sweet.

CGI Tarkin and Leia are the single biggest issue this movie has for me. I can't believe Disney saw that and approved it. Also the mind reading tentacle monster was a complete waste of time and brought nothing to the movie. I didn't feel much for Forest Whitaker's character in general.

That about does it for my complaints though. Everything else was great. My heart was pounding for the entire Scarif sequence up until the credits stopped rolling.

    And seriously....read Catalyst.

Did anyone here like CGI Tarkin?

It's my only significant complaint right now and still didn't inhibit my experience, but some of the people I saw it with (including people who liked the film less than I did) actually somehow loved it and thought it was a better choice than recasting the role. I think I would've cared less if he were in only one scene, but having a major recurring character done up like that probably wasn't the best option.

I thought CGI Leia looked great, though. Probably helps that she was so brief.

I liked CGI Tarkin. Didn't bother me one bit.

right after Jyn's speech to the rebel leaders as she walks away there is a announcement that's something like "general syndulla please report to briefing room" or something like that and it is then repeated.

Tarkin either looks way better to me than Leia or my brain had time to accept it vs a very brief weird looking second with Leia.

Also, unless my ears deceived me, there was no Wilhelm scream.

Edit: also, why did they bother to recast/recreate Dodana and then not have him say anything?

I'm trying not to read much on here bc of spoilers and I want to know as little as possible, but how was the soundtrack without williams?

It was fine to me. I need to hear it more, the soundtrack never sticks out to me on first viewings. I'm more focused on story/characters which is supported by the music, but generally not the main point.

I'm gonna buy it and listen to it and see how much of it brings me back to those scenes. That's what I loved about the underrated TFA score, when I listen to it I know exactly what's going on in the movie.

Yes a lot of new leit motifs in the force awakens. Did characters have themes, I have the score qued up on Apple Music but feel like it's a spoiler listening before the film ha

I think the score was prrrretty good but there was a few moments that stuck out to me as duds.

  23. To piggyback Nathan's point about Galen, if you read Catalyst, he is very anti war. He escapes his facility once he learns his research is being used to create a weapon and goes into hiding. The fact that he turns around and is like "okay fine I'll help build this thing because If I don't someone else will" is kind of silly to me.

I do wish we had more time with Madds though because he's great
