I mean, if Vader shows up I don't see the point in excluding Solo based on your complaint. I agree that it would be interesting to have it stand completely apart from the other films. But this particular story literally leads up to the opening scene of A New Hope. So this is not the movie that can really do that.

Yeah, you're right. It would just be my personal preference, and I like the idea of Han being roped into everything in A New Hope, rather than intersecting with everything that's going on here. Again, definitely willing to see how it's handled.

I can't consider that a "flaw" because the whole idea of the saga is that it follows the Skywalker family, and I'd hate for that to change. But, yeah, the anthology/"A Star Wars Story" should definitely start exploring further corners of this universe.

our resident Bantha Fodder podcasters discussed this a little bit in an episode, and I liked their conclusion that this first one should still be slightly connected to the originals (as it is), but down the road we should hopefully see things that aren't as connected.

That would be awesome if true, unfortunately the tweet was posted on April 1st.

I'm sure this info will be widely available within the next month (during Star Wars Celebration), but there's stuff online that kind of gives a very rough outline of the cast of Rogue One as well as some new vehicles. Doesn't really give anything as far as story at all, just finally confirmation as to the characters names and what not. So if you're crazy about spoilers for some reason, maybe don't look at this.

    Possible Spoilers!!

  9. Hmm. Not much of madds if he's only in flashbacks. Would be a bummer.

  10. Reshoots. Rumors are Disney don't like it and it's tested poorly.

No way did this test poorly, or at least I really highly doubt it. Hell the prequels probably didn't/wouldn't have tested poorly just by nature of it being Star Wars.

I think people just hear that reshoots are happening and they assume something's horribly wrong, when reshoots are actually just a normal part of blockbuster filmmaking these days.

For blockbusters this size, reshoots happen, they're just always a part of the process. However, Disney has been the source of most of the conflict in the production of Marvel movies (apparently particularly with Edgar Wright), so hopefully they aren't overstepping their boundaries creatively and trying to tailor it to fit a specific vision for their Star Wars universe, like they seem to do with Marvel.

    Man I sure hope not

I can see the fact that it is a Star Wars movie but not a main series entry leading to disagreements about what that should be

"Unhappy with" does not necessarily mean bad. Disney is a huge company and this is still a huge project. Yes it's not in the *main series* but it is the first, of what Disney hopes to be many, spin-off films. They really want it to be a hit. I'm a little worried but not much more than I have been in the first place.

Didn't they have to reshoot parts of Episode 7?

Most movies have reshoots. This one is scheduled for a month which seems like a long time. But it's also a major film so I don't know.

I was not a fan of Godzilla so I don't know what to expect with this one.

I actually wasn't a big fan of Godzilla, but I really enjoyed Monsters.

As excited I am for Rogue One, I am not expecting much out of it. I don't think I am going to view A New Hope differently after seeing Rogue One or anything.

i read it's not an issue of quality but more the vibe of the film not fitting with ep VII

I loved Godzilla so much, and this has been my most anticipated Star Wars film since before Force Awakens. I'm remaining optimistic for now.

There's really no reason not to be. The reshoots raise questions but doesn't mean they are overhauling the movie, and the cast, director, and previous franchise entry all bode well

That is disappointing if true. One thing that got me so excited was the fact that it would have a different vibe.

The Force Awakens had reshoots as well. It sounds like multiple sources are confirming that Rogue One isn't testing well, though. Hopefully the reshoots are productive and in service of as best a movie as possible.

I really liked Godzilla and Moster so I'm interested.
