Thursday playing Running From The Rain with just a few other people and then seeing all the fans running to the stage is one of the best festival memories. Best song to start the day.

"Early entry" cheat codes?!! Not sure what you're referring to but... In 2014 the person at the VIP security line got their wires crossed and opened gates earlier than they were meant to for like, 2 minutes, so about ten of us were let in earlier than we were supposed to.

No special music or soundchecks. But it was cool being able to wander the grounds undeterred by crowds for about 15 minutes before everybody else was let in. Haha.

    I just got overexcited and reserved a hotel for 9/19 - 9/23!

...Which would basically be my advice to anybody debating whether they want to go or not. Just book a refundable hotel and/or reserve a room you can just pay on-site. Honestly, I should do it farther in advance than this but y'know. Whatever.

Yeah! Just find a part of the fence with no security and jump in! (jk jk)

  7. I feel like the Forecast is pretty likely (especially if we're getting FOB due to the management connections). HRC seems like the least likely of those three, but I'd very much welcome them.

Has anyone brought up Eminem yet? He did have holds on some stadiums late summer/early fall for some shows that appear like they aren’t happening? But maybe he booked them around riot?

I brought him up a few days back and I've been quietly waiting to see if he actually teases anything but yeah... I think he's a possibility. He'd be a good fit for Riot while simultaneously being something a little different and being a pretty massive draw.

My thought is that he's got an announcement / tour dates coming at some point next week and he didn't want anything pulling away from that Detroit benefit show that happened last night. And he's 100% the size of artist that a festival would delay a line-up announcement for.

And there's plenty of support options.

My bet is on Eminem/Fall Out Boy/Slayer. Tackles the genres with big pulls that Riot typically books: hip-hop, pop-punk, metal

i guess that one guy who seems so certain on fb/reddit has gotten in my head about FOB/Beck, so thats my brain pick. my heart pick would be paramore and eminem, but if they split the difference with FOB/eminiem, i would also be pretty pumped.

would also be jazzed for system, no dounbt or muse, but im not making any of them an official prediction.

The only thing about the FOB/Beck/Slayer trio is that it would be the first time ever that all three headliners are repeats. I’m sure that will happen at some point, but it is something to consider.

Eminem would be a weird pick for Riot, but I guess in only see it maybe?

I feel like he is liked enough by rock fans that it would go over well. I would probably try to catch at least of his set since I’m not going to ever go see his own show.

This is where my head is leaning now too. Fall Out Boy gets the edge over Paramore in the end for me because of the no Chicago date last year, Paramore being busy that Saturday, and having a completely empty calendar.

And Eminem is obviously gearing up toward some announcement. And he'd be worth the festival holding on the announcement for.

I'd be all in for System or No Doubt but I'm not sold on either of those being options this year. Particularly No Doubt. I feel like we would have seen more movement on that (or heard rumblings post-Coachella).

Fall Out Boy would be a repeat but that was 11 years ago (so TBH, that barely counts as a "repeat" to me). And Beck was six years ago. Slayer was five. So they're repeats but I think there's a pretty okay washout period between them all.

Still think it would be nice if we got somebody else instead of Beck, though. He's a smaller headliner. But I did have kind of a wild thought last night, that I think ties to something @ItsAndrew said recently...

What if there's a run of Riot stage acts that perform with an orchestra? Sounds silly but, I mean, Cypress Hill has been doing orchestra shows too! I don't see them doing it for a single artist. But if there were 3-4 on the same day? That would be worth it. And would be a unique experience too! Hah.

Eminem is a stadium artist, especially with him not touring in almost a decade, I think he'd be too big.

TBH my nostalgia for Eminem is probably stronger than any other artist that RF will book this year

So are Foo Fighters and they headlined last year, and Eminem is either at that level or below.

The demand for Eminem would be way higher than Foo Fighters

I also agree he's too big. But that would be awesome

I don't think he'd be a weird pick at all. RF usually has at least a few hip-hop artists on the lineup and has had Run The Jewels headline (or was it co-headline? I honestly don't recall..) previously. With Eminem specifically, I think there's a ton of overlap between causal Eminem fans and 90s rock fans. Plus his latest album is a return to the Slim Shady persona (from what I've seen), so it's even more in line with the RF audience than his more recent pop stuff.

Is anyone really "too big" now that Foo Fighters have headlined? Other than Taylor Swift or a crazy big (and current) pop act, I think the answer might be "no" (not that RF would ever want to book such an act).

I'm going to stray from the rest of the predictions slightly and say Slayer/Sex Pistols/Eminem. But honestly, I think Slayer/Sex Pistols/Fall Out Bay is more likely. Realistically it'll be neither of those because my powers of prediction have been awful historically lol

This was brought up on Reddit, but since The Black Keys cancelled their fall tour, are they back in the mix for Riot acts? Or would it be too soon to book them?

I would argue that the My Chem reunion in 2022 was too big for Riot, tbh. The only day the festival's sold out well in advance and it was actually torturous being in that crowd. When you have to stop between every. single. song, I'd argue that's too big for the GA space that Riot offered.
