They are playing Philadelphia the Saturday of Riot, same reason people don't think Offspring will play

Don’t forget that last year there were bands that played Riot and Japan the same weekend.

I thought the same but probably next week.

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

Sigur Rós has a show the Saturday of Riot Fest so if you're not feeling the headliners that night, that's an option.

  5. hah i bought Sigur Rós tickets without thinking about this whoopsie

In March of 2022, Dua Lipa played a sold out arena show at the United Center then came back in August and headlined Lollapalooza.

It is currently March of 2024, and I am seeing The Strokes play a sold out arena show at the UIC Pavilion. Follow the same pattern and return as a (Riot) festival headliner?

I’ve seen The Killers live twice before and had a fun time and wouldn’t oppose them headlining this festival, but The Strokes playing would be way more fun and attractive to the Riot crowd if they go for the 2000s indie rock band. Plus Julian has played with The Voidz before.

Random thought: Could Dr. Dog be an option? They’re playing a reunion show at Red Rocks and Philly this year. Could Riot be a possible “Midwest exclusive” show for them this year?

311 playing Salt Shed on July 21st, they're most likely out for Riot. Neon Trees and Awolnation also on the bill.

lmao fuck that so hard. I would see Neon Trees but NOT with those two bands.

Weezer is likely out. A Florida date of their Blue Album anniversary tour leaked and is happening Riot weekend

I saw that link and didn't even look at the date. Yeah, that would take them, Flaming Lips, and DInosaur Jr all out.

    Dillinger Escape Plan (surprisingly) out

This sounds like a 2011 radio show

Lol that’s what I said in the tour forum. That tour would’ve done numbers in 2013

  18. No Chicago date on the NFG tour makes them pretty likely. I assume they'd be playing Catalyst.

Catalyst is my favorite NFG album so that’s cool

Only thing that's preventing me from calling it a lock is how broad thee gap in tour dates is. They may have other, non-show commitments for that month.

Then again, that wouldn't preclude a weekend festival set so... Pretty likely! But I'm hesitant to call it a lock.

Sincere Engineer is pretty much a lock I think though

They have also played Riot several times, but never for an album play. And I don’t think they have ever skipped Chicago on an album anniversary tour. I feel pretty confident in it being a lock.

This is already feeling like a very strong year for early 2000’s pop punk. Which is great news for me!
