With AFI teasing a show to celebrate Sing The Sorrow 20th anniversary, I really hope Riot gets them for an album play too

If anyone knows off the top of their head, when do we usually get early bird tickets? Surely that's coming up soon, right?

saw a rumor that the AFI show at the forum will also include deftones, which is already a sick lineup

edit - so no deftones, but Jawbreaker is direct support, so thats cool. also the announcement video said 'first and last time playing sing the sorrow in full" so no tour for that album... so far.

I could definitely see AFI doing Sing The Sorrow at Riot Fest. I doubt they'll turn it into a full-on tour. But I could see them doing an album play at a few festivals. That would be a pretty solid get for a Furnace Fest and/or Fest headliner, TBH.

EDIT: Nevermind. The announcement is saying that they'll be performing it for "the first and last time ever." So. Guess we can't count on that.

A.F.I. is one band I would like to see lean into the nostalgia thing just a bit more. They do it well with merch... But if they would just give a little every now and again with shit like this? I think they would be a much bigger live draw than they are.

Throw in 2-3 more older songs into the setlist than they do. Maybe do an album tour or two. That kinda thing.

I was surprised with how many old ones we got when I saw them but definitely needed more lol if they just did a one time tour where they played 1995-2003 era and played small rooms that would be the best

I would love to see them doing what Bad Religion did on that one run: Do a few nights in each city with logical "era" breakdowns. Obviously, with A.F.I. it would probably make more sense to just do two nights.

Night #1: Answer That through Art Of Drowning
Night #2: Sing the Sorrow onward

If they could swing it, it might even make sense to have night #1 be in a smaller venue. Which would make the experience even cooler.

But anyway, yeah. I support any and all A.F.I. I just think they could be doing a bit more fan-service and it would benefit everybody. (Of course, I also know that as "artists" they kinda don't care about that kinda thing so... More power to 'em.)

August burns red just announced a 20 year tour with a Chicago stop the end of April and it’s a riot fest presents show. Maybe they are in play to finally come back this year.

bleed from within and the devil wears Prada are also on the tour

The Walkman just announced a reunion. Maybe more of a Pitchfork act but they could sub headline at Riot.

solid but relatively standard. its funny though with the rise in single day fests and the 'how can all this fit on one day' talk, looking at this, it feels pretty thin to put over 4 day. this would be a rad 2 day event.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

Huh, I didn’t even catch that it’s a four day thing until you brought it up

I wonder if the 26th will be like a pre-party or something? Def seems odd that this whole lineup is four days

If memory serves, Thursday is usually just club shows. And that's kinda my biggest thing with this festival. The short set times and the emphasis on the club shows that can lead to super late nights. Most of the really cool gets wind up being in the club shows. They usually get unique combinations of headliners, rare gets that aren't playing the outdoor stage, etc.

I love the idea and I love the execution. But from a "value" standpoint it's always just shy of convincing me I should pull the trigger. The fact that the undercard is almost exclusively C-tier "street punk" bands never really helps that cause...

I was gonna say I wonder if riot would do interrupeters as a top 6/8 act next year. Theyve risen the ranks and have to be one of the best "newer" bands out there right now.

I think its time to give them some spotlight

The Interrupters are to ska what Turnstile is to hardcore.

i can’t believe how big both of them have become since I first saw them in 2018

I love the Interrupters, but they aren't a top 8 band.. maybe top 15

    Things have changed.

I don't think they draw all that well. I think the co-bill tour with Flogging Molly was kind of a bust.

Sure they had a big hit single but they have 1/2 the Spotify followers of a band like The Maine.

You all might be right but you know for a festival and a genre that struggles so hard finding and promoting female acts, I think sometimes forcing it a bit wouldn't hurt

Came upon this on FB. Crazy to see where Imagine Dragons were billed on RF 10 years ago and where they are now.

this was before my time going to riot, but that is always one of the funnier ones to looks back on, that and post malone. Im certain ID were only on this line up because they were already on tour opening for Awolnation and awol was red hot at the time with Sail (i only know that cuz thats the first time i heard imagine dragons, was at the stop on the tour in st. louis 6 days later) and was maybe only a few months before Radioactive exploded.

This day is one I regret. It was the first time I went to Riot but I only went to watch Chiodos then left. Which was mostly cus the friend I went with wanted to leave, and I was new to the city and not comfortable staying alone. Feel like I missed out on a good amount in hindsight.
