If I had to speculate, I think Arcade Fire have had a recent fall from popularity the same way Phoenix & Chance the Rapper did, and wouldn't warrant a headlining spot at a major fest like Lolla. Rather than take a sub spot, or headline a mid tier fest like Riot, I'd guess they're hoping the new album is a return to critic/fan praise and they can leverage their headlining slots next summer.

Everything Now really flopped, and I remember that arena tour they had lined up for it was really struggling to fill places out.

Yeah, I would put them about the same level as Bikini Kill, I think. Maybe a bit more, maybe even a bit less. I'm not really sure.

So definitely not the last headliner but I could easily see them being a co-headliner a la Run the Jewels/Incubus in 2018. It's less obvious on the poster, but I think that's what they also tried to do with Bikini Kill/Raconteurs in 2019. I would use Slipknot and MGK last year as an example but... That was an accident haha.

Destroy Boys doesn't have a Chicago date on their spring/summer tour, they feel like a good possibility

They are skipping most of the cities they played in 2021, their midwest dates are all in late May and I would assume they tour again later this year so still possible for Riot

Im honestly not that familiar with Bauhaus. Kinda makes me agree they're not a headliner.

I'm feeling good about possible Op Ivy

Granted I'm not extremely familiar with any of these three bands histories, but I would've assumed that a Bauhaus reunion would be bigger than or on par with Jawbreaker and Bikini Kill's reunions.

One of the OG gothic rock pioneers that formed in the late 70s. Check out this album and see if you dig it. They might not be big enough but I dig them.

Streetlight has played the exact same set at Riot Fest their last 3 plays, they will always be one of my favorite bands of all time but just so disappointing lately. Especially since I left AM! early to catch their set last time

Bauhaus were big enough in 2018, they were set to be the last headliner but couldn't because of visa issues. That is why the lineup was so delayed that year. I don't know if they are still headliner worthy now though, I've never listened to them. Plus I believe they have played shows since 2018.

I would say that a Bauhaus reunion show would be worth of a headlining spot if it was their 1st comeback show. But as they already played shows in LA, Mexico and the UK, plus NY shows announced, I dont think it will have the same impact, which I feel its what happened to Bikini Kill.

EDIT: just saw they also have a tour in May, they are playing Cruel World Fest and not wven headlining it

But if they close the 2nd stage right before Misfits or MCR, that would be a great spot for them!

Soccer Mommy is announcing a new album today. Not on the Pitchfork lineup and not on the Lollapalooza lineup. I could see them playing Riot this year.

Oh hell yeah! Riot could use some more indie rock of that realm

In 2018 Run the Jewels were considered Co-headliners with Incubus on that Sunday, maybe Bauhaus and another band could be in a situation like that?

It might be a bit too much mid 2000s Warped with MCR already headlining but I would really enjoy a Fuelled by Ramen themed mainstage on the Sunday with Fall Out Boy/Paramore/Gym Class Heroes/Academy Is and maybe a few of the more modern bands.

I will be almost 40 by the time Riot Comes around. My first Warped Tour was 2005 and I always look back on that lineup with pure nostalgia

Kinda similar, but I would like a FBR Tour on a similar type as a Hella Mega Tour. Take Twenty One Pilots, Panic At The Disco and Paramore with one small band from the label like Against The Current and they will be playing sold out stadiums across the US

FWIW, I remember Travie mentioning something about new GCH music on a podcast recently. And they did those Warped Tour shows a few years back. So they might be in the mix.

Though if they played, I'd expect they'd be on a stage with acts that leaned more hip-hop (or even ska/reggae) unless it were a tour of sorts.

Unrelated: I'm still really thinking/hoping we get Paramore. I'm convinced they're at a point where they are big enough to be part of the top three based on the billing at WWYF and the low-profile the last few years.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t GCH drop off those Warped shows? I thought they were booked, but then the band dropped and were replaced with just a Travie solo set?

I thought GCH were done for again. But it’d be cool if they did another comeback this year

Just checked and you're right! This is making me second-guess my memory WRT what I heard on that podcast too so I looked into it and I was mucking things up.

He signed to Hopeless last year and is still doing solo shit. No GCH in the mix as of yet. God, my memory sucks. Haha.

Are The Cure doing anything around Riot Fest? They would be an amazing headliner. If they have already been ruled out I apologize.

Yeah that Gym Class Heroes reunion was very short lived. I can't see them getting back together.
And I'm pretty sure William from The Academy Is has made comments that they'll never get together again. The Almost Here 10 year tour was their last hoorah. Which I'm pissed about cuz I missed that tour : (

I skipped the "...And out come the wolves" album play for the "Almost here" album play a few years ago and I haven't regretted it for a second.

I had a horrible day that day & overdid it pregraming, it was the only time I ever blacked out at a show, & I will forever resent myself for it
