Sad about Chubby and the Gang not being on Riot, but goddamn Saturday is staked! Will get a ticket just for that day

  2. wow pitchfork is one of the better lineups of the year for sure

All three days feel like a strongly curated vibe, but you can see the 2-3 acts each on Friday/Sunday that would have made Saturday into an uber-day hahah

Overall, not much here that I would have expected at Riot.
Dry Cleaning would have been cool though.

This is a more hip hop/ blues leaning fest here in St. Louis, but its the week before riot so that means acts in the midwest, a short drive to Chicago, anyone who could be a crossover to riot could be in play... like THE URGE thats been mentioned here lately. wouldnt hate erykah badu, st. lunatics, foxing, or seratones (again)

A Placebo in LA just got announced for Sept 10, a week before Riot. No other shows have been announced yet. Although this seems to put them more in play for Riot

That would be a strong get. Isn't Gerard Way a big fan?

If the Bauhaus rumors are true, you could have MCR and the early 200s emo brigade on the one stage with Bauhaus, Placebo, and other bands of that ilk on the other.

That would make a certain percentage of people extraordinarily happy.

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

Bad news: Green Day is out, it seems, as Sunday is the last headliner day they need to fill.

Good news: Cage the Elephant, IDLES, and Courtney Barnett are all in play!!!

Idles would be amazing at Riot, but I feel they are playing Lollapalooza

Love this time of year where the "tour gaps" start popping up, making all of the speculation feel more finite.

A little over two months away from the announcement probably!

  16. Is there any reason to imagine that headline days aren’t set in stone for MCR & Misfits?

Not for Green Day specifically, just in general.

You can’t announce headliners for a specific day and then go “actually they’re on another day sorry” without a very legitimate reason, because there are people buying one day passes just for MCR or Misfits days because that’s the only days they can go, so to switch would not be acceptable.

  18. well sure obviously in that situation, but single-day tickets haven't been sold yet

I found it pretty odd for them to announce MCR Friday & Misfits Saturday so far in advance.

I think it's possible but incredibly unlikely to switch days for headliners like that. Even if people bought a 3-day passes, I'm sure some people booked travel plans based on one of those bands playing on a certain day.

I don't see it happening and can't think of an instance where any bands have switched Riot days in the past, let alone a headliner.

The possibility of a Midtown reunion had my brain working overtime last night and I came up with the following potential stage line-up for the MCR main stage:

My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Midtown, Thursday, and Armor For Sleep

That would be a sick "early 2000s" billing from top to bottom. Could also see a newer "emo" band going on before Armor for Sleep too (e.g., Origami Angel, Dogleg).

For what it's worth (basically nothing), Riot & Sea Hear Now shared three artists last year.. same weekend

would it be out of place for Gary Clark Jr to show up? he is doing lots of fests in Sept, none of them are super big (sea hear now, intersection (that i posted earlier), sound on sound.. i could see him shredding on a non-main around late afternoon early evening.

Apparently the Midtown announcement is coming tomorrow at 9am PST. Assuming it's a tour, it could be another lock.

I'm also pretty sure MCR was set to announce openers tomorrow too? Unless I'm misremembering...

EDIT: Timing is conspicuous. Wonder if they're opening a few dates. That would add up with hints dropped in a recent Liner Notes.
