Am I missing a joke here or is Gwar actually out for some reason? Doesn't look like they have any conflicts according to their website.

  3. For what it’s worth, GVF also has a big gap (multiple weeks, same as September) in their schedule around the time of Lolla, so I don’t think they’re a lock for Riot by any means. That said, are they big enough to be the third headliner?

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

Someone on Reddit mentioned that Andrew W.K. has essentially gone M.I.A. and it’s likely he won’t do Riot this year. Is that true? What happened to him?

And yeah, there’s no way Riot would ever book GVF lol. Then again, I also doubted beyond belief that they wouldn’t book MGK, and look what happened…

    And what happened with GWAR?

Honestly I wouldn’t put it past Riot to book GVF

I know there's some major aesthetic and sonic differences, but I would very much put Greta Van Fleet in the same category as the Struts, Fitz and the Tantrums, Father John Misty and a few others I can't think of right now. Only because they were a "buzz band" that dabbled in the pop realm, had some success with it and did the "mainstream" festival circuit, but then the buzz died down. They all still have a pretty strong core of fans but never quite hit that next level. And that's usually when those acts pop onto Riot.

I'm not comparing the sounds or aesthetic of any of those artists except for their career trajectory. And at a macro level, it kinda falls apart. But in terms of likelihood playing Riot... Seems to be a pattern.

Given that Greta played Lollapalooza in 2019 and their buzz has pretty much died down, I would see them doing Riot over Lolla this time around.

Whether or not Riot books them? I dunno. See all of the above. I would roll my eyes and feel bummed if it happened...

But it's a significantly shorter reach than them booking Avril Lavigne, IMHO.

If you book blink, nfg, simple plan, sum 41 and the like, Avril is not a reach at all compared to a band that desperately wants to be Led Zeppelin IMHO

I mean, it doesn't conflict in terms of scheduling (it's in May) and it's only like three dates so... I'd say it makes them less likely but doesn't rule them out completely.

(Though, if I were betting, I'd say it puts them as a "no.")

Thank you both for pointing that out! I'm not sure what I was looking at, but I only saw the NY and CA dates!

Whelp. Looks like I'm going to the Boston show. Fuck, that's a line-up.

Bauhaus just announced their first tour in 16 years with no Midwest dates.

I thought Blondie’s riot fest appearance in 2018 was supposed to be their last Chicago show ever

Riot has been good about getting classic hip hop at the festival, but not as great with current hip hop (from my observation at least). Having said that, what current hip hop would you love to see at Riot?

Any of JPEGMAFIA, Denzel Curry, Danny Brown, Vince Staples, Earl Sweatshirt, Freddie Gibbs, or Saba would be my top choices.

I think there were rumors they were gonna do a farewell but then they changed their minds about it. I think an early poster leaked that said it would be but it was never part of the official announcement

Shortly before last year's Riot he quietly deleted all his social media accounts and cancelled his entire tour besides like Riot and one or two other fests.
No one really knows what happened because he hasn't been seen since. His wife Kat Dennings will occasionally post him on her socials but otherwise he's totally gone.

It was right after Riot and right before Furnace, cause he played Riot but canceled Furnace
