Still feels relatively unlikely to me given, but this also makes me feel like Green Day might be a bit more possible than it was before.

100 Gecs would be a good counter-headliner on a side stage, but I have a feeling they'll do Pitchfork.

Frank Turner is probably out, playing Chicago in July. Bummer, he hasnt played Riot Chicago since 2012

My heart tells me Green Day, but my gut tells me Nine Inch Nails

Also, Simple Plan/Sum 41 co-headliner announced today with a Chicago date in May. SP is kinda out to begin with, but Sum 41 is also out now too

FWIW, NIN are playing Vegas on the 15th and then have Primavera that weekend. While it doesn't explicitly rule them out, I feel like it greatly decreases the chances that they'd be on the bill. They also have an Ohio date on 9/24.

Both bands are also playing their debut albums according to the press release

Not sure if a May show would rule them out, as its 4 months before Riot. Sum41 playing All Killer No Filler at Riot would be dope

Is there a history of bands playing Chicago on an album play tour... And then coming back to Riot to do that same album?

I feel like it's fairly uncommon, if it happens at all.

Honestly, it's the most underrated sketch in season 2. And potentially the entire series.

The only one I can think of is Mayday Parade in 2017, they played their debut album at the House of Blues in April and then again at Riot.
And kind of similar, Dashboard Confessional played an album at Riot 2019 and came back to Chicago in February 2020 to play it again.

I didn't know about those two scenarios. I kinda view a band doing an album play and then coming back with a proper tour a bit differently. Mostly because that's happened quite a few times in the past (though not always in the same year). I'd imagine sometimes the offer from Riot might actually be the impetus for some bands even thinking about it...

  17. I've only seen Menzos once so I'd be into it no matter what, but fwiw I think the album is short enough that any album-play tour would have 10+ other tracks or justify 90-minute sets.

Not sure what I"d prefer between that and a fest set of just the album though.

I think they didn't played the album at Riot. I remember being dissapointed by that

Laura Jane Grace's solo tour got moved to September, and there's a gap in the tour on September 16 between Greater Sudbury, ON and Winnepeg, MB. It's unlikely, but still kind of possible Against Me could play Friday?

She's said AM isn't planning on playing shows this year so doubtful unfortunately

It'd still be cool if she did her own set early in the day.

But I'm so ready for a new AM! album/tour, it sucks we won't get that this year
