i bought tickets to the chicago GJ date so the trickling out of confusing information has been frustrating. I paid for that ticket under the marketing of both albums being played so if they bait and switch that id be upset (espeically driving 5 hours each way)... the no opener announced seems to imply both albums because if there was no opener AND the shrinking down to only 1 album..thatd be quite the early night at the rock show, lol, like 75-90 mins tops

Yeah I’m frustrated about the Pomona date. For the same reason. I’d much prefer to just do both albums in one night than both in two nights. Hopefully they clarify. Because if that’s the case, I guess I’ll stick with my two LA tix

Alright, update on the Glassjaw thing. Turns out the change on the poster was a complete error and they’re still doing both albums that night in Chicago (and Pomona). I (and a few others) asked about it on their Insta post and Justin actually responded to my comment! So maybe not playing Riot

    Give what you can.

Guy who's hoping for Placebo checking in. Looks like they have a one-off date in Mexico on Sept 12 and that's their only date listed for that month. Very encouraged that they'll at least be on the correct continent within a week of Riot.

Also, Superchunk rescheduled some of their dates to late spring/summer and Chicago got moved to June. So maybe out now?

Posted on the tour forum, but it seems there is a Rise Against, The Used, Senses Fail tour starting July 15th, so probs this will rule them all out. Bummer as I was really hoping to see The Used playing, opening for MCR

Well, that tour will probably be just ended as Riot Fest rolls around. So I guess it depends on whether or not there's a Chicago date, TBH.

And RA played Chicago what? Three times last year? I could see that tour skipping over Chicago and maybe even focusing primarily on the coasts.

They played 5 (2 acoustics, 3 full band. I went to 4 lol). But I hope so! Or maybe The Used being an opening act wont completly ruled them out

I don’t really listen to Rise Against but I’d be more than okay if they didn’t play Riot this year or for a while. I mean as mentioned above they played Chicago 5 times last year. Get someone else to take their spot who doesn’t play Chicago or Riot Fest as often.

  12. I think they're a very good live band, so I don't mind seeing them on the fest every other year or so, but at this point they're way down on my priority list unless they're doing an album play.

I guess my point is: There probably won't be a ton of demand for them to play. They played the festival last year and did two other headlining shows toward end of the year. The tour they're doing in the spring also has a bunch of midwest dates.

I just kinda feel like they'll skip Chicago on the late summer run (and most of the midwest) whether it's because of Riot Fest or not. You kinda start to saturate a market playing it so frequently. Especially when you're doing it in support of the same record.

I just found out I might not be able to go to Riot this year and that’s really sad because I need to see MCR live

I'm fully convinced we're getting an On the Impossible Past set this year.

Honestly, I'd be underwhelmed by an OTIP 10 year set/tour from them. They've played half the album live every time I've seen them over the last few years so it really wouldn't be that special.

Yes but do they play Mexican Guitars for MexicanGuitars?

The answer to that question is no so the full album play is still necessary.

Not to flex, Matt, but I saw them play it last year. So boom.

Definitely some crossover potential there (MO, Mannequin Pussy) and a handful that could go Lolla or Riot (Bleachers, Chloe Moriando, Backseat Lovers, ATL). I'd be into Riot grabbing a couple electronic acts - 100 Gecs and Girl Talk feel like they would fit in by personality/vibe if not sound, but I don't think either are particularly likely.

Also, I really want to see Porter Robinson without going to an EDM fest.

Porter Robinson was one of my favorites shows of 2021! Definetly worth seeing him live
