Personally, I find two things to be true regarding yesterday:

    a) People need to learn that you cannot camp at a stage all day for like 8 hours without food and water regularly and being able to sit down.

    b) In a post-Phoebe Bridgers touring world (it seems strange to say this buuut), security needs to do a better job at crowd control and helping those I need.

The reason I bring up Phoebe is that we saw all summer long people needing medical attention and passing out at her shows and I feel like that should have been a warning sign to Riot Fest with what’s to come, especially since MCR is more popular than Phoebe currently.

Yeah, yesterday was bonkers. It didn’t feel like riot fest. I had a great time but it wasn’t the same. So far today it feels back to normal.

I’m hoping today is a lot less crowded since almost everyone there yesterday was there for MCR. Riot sold out of single day passes yesterday. So I think today will be less crowded

  5. One time security made fun of me for having a book in my bag but I have never done that.

According to a comment I read, that person read the book the entire time up until MCR and when she finished the book she would start it over again.

Found parking at a church on Kedzie and 16th. 30 bucks and they stay here to look after the car. As a bonus, it will be super easy to get away from the area so I can get to the JEW aftershow early.

I’m not going to harp on someone who did that. It reeks of toxic masculinity to shit on someone for that behavior. Let them do what they want.

I did see someone reading a book while waiting for Senses Fail to go up a few years ago

  10. Oh yeah, definitely didn’t want to imply that I was making fun of them or anything. It’s cool, if it was me I’d just go see another band and not be on the barrier.

It is insane to me that people would go to the festival and camp on the barricade for 8-9 hours before the band plays. I can’t even fathom how that can be done without having to go to the bathroom, get water or food, etc. How is that even possible?

  12. I used to do like four or five hours on barricade when I was I teenager. Can’t handle it anymore.

4-5 makes sense. 8-9 not even including the bands performance is borderline stupidity. Unless you have a catheter and a camelback I don’t see how that’s possible haha

Seeing a lot more people sitting in the shade early, I think many people are still feeling the effects of yesterday. I'm in energy conserving mode today, I'm trying to pull myself enough to have energy to even go tomorrow

I want to see Sleater-Kinney and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs but I don’t think I will have the energy to go tomorrow.

  16. Charlotte Sands was pretty obviously singing to a pre-recorded vocal track, right? I went to Joy Formidable after a couple songs and enjoyed them a lot more.

I'm amazed you all are able to post from the festival haha

PSA: Last year JEW were doing a Lolla aftershow at the Metro and it turned out to be a surprise Bleed American anniversary show. If you are contemplating going... Go!

The reception is much better today and I'm just sitting in the shade while GUK are setting up

  20. Yeah, much calmer generally so far, and that extends to still having cell reception for now.

That was because it was the anniversary week. There’s nothing to suggest that this year.

My wife was picking me up after MCR last night, I couldn't even place a normal phone call, it was saying "network is congested"

I was with my partner and a friend during MCR. I bailed to help a woman carry her dehydrated boyfriend out of the crowd. It was a miracle we were able to find each other afterward. Thank goodness for text messages still getting through. iMessage was worthless at that point.

This is the only festival I’ve ever had this issue at, too. You’d think they’d contract with the carriers to bring in COWs but I’m increasingly confident riot fest just hates being adequate.

Lots of clouds today... Hopefully that means that less people will get dehydrated. The combination of clouds and wind is great.

Maybe Chicago has finally turned on CM Punk and decided to do against his advice
