Probably just a mistake. Bands make little fuck-ups like that RE: tour posters all the time when one-off festival dates are announced.

    Might be an aftershow, though.

after getting saturday's placements from the tikitok vid, heres my stab at all 3 days, placement and stage order only, so being on the same line does not equal conflict, as times could be all over the place. on friday i could see an alternate version where rosentstock is in the destroy boys spot, pushing LBC down a spot to headline Rebel and puttin destroy boys on rebel somewhere. the other big thing i didnt consider is riot will sometimes put a bigger name on early as a way to get people in the gates

Loving this! It feels a bit more likely (and gives me much less anxiety) than what people were originally putting forward. For whatever reason, I hadn't thought of putting Descendents and Lagwagon on the same stage as Alkaline Trio despite that making perfect sense, hah.

The one thing I would say is that I really doubt Rocket from the Crypt is going to be closing out a stage over the Wonder Years. And they'd kinda stick out like a sore thumb among that group of bands. If anything, I think they might headline Rebel or they would be early in the day on Roots with the "punk" bands or on Rise with the "indie" bands... But headlining Rebel feels a bit more likely, if I were a betting man.

Too, I could also see Lucky Boys Confusion or Sincere Engineer on the main stage in the Destroy Boys slot. To your point, though, LBC would also be a great headliner for Rebel.

    Below Midtown.

I'm either going blind or it was added after or I was looking at the attached files

Either way, I tried to delete it before someone responded when I noticed it lol

also if more bands are getting added (I still have absolutely no idea what the actual plan is that Riot Mike was talking about).. it will probably change some things on the lineup

yea i definitely struggled with the 4th stage headliner on friday and more than willing to swap wonder years and rocket, and rocket from the crypt and lucky boys confusion are 2 bands that i dont have a feel for on which style of bands they tend to play with or how they draw. they have both been around forever but im not to familiar with either.

i have a lot of thoughts this morning, sorry bout that, but the other thing i learned this weekend is that Jxdn is NOT in fact jaden smith. i assumed it was based on nothing more than knowing he did music, and assuming the music he did do was in yungblud/keenyhoopla-esque realm. turns out its some other guy, haha

I wish we weren’t months away from getting a schedule because I’m already having anxiety for potential conflicts. I’m really hopi g that there is t a Misfits vs Sunny Day Real Estate conflict but I feel like it is likely if not almost certain.

He did an interview on Q101 right before the lineup came out

    https://www.101wkqx.com/kqx-morning-crew/
Brian, Ali, & Justin consult The Boob Experts [5-11-22, 9:00AM]

interview starts about 14 minutes in, lasts 4-5 minutes

    Here's basically what he said

" Yea, we are going to be announcing something in a couple of weeks that is a culmination of a couple of years work that will lead into the future of Riot. We're pretty excited. We don't make big moves like this very often, the last was taking it outside... that's not going away but we are adding additional detail and are really excited. The rest of the month we still have a ton of stuff to do.. It's uplifting"

and afterwards one of the Q101X dj's said "more to come" on Twitter when asked about more bands

In 2018, the Wonder Years were directly before Bad Religion on Rise. I think having them headline that stage would be fair.

Rocket from the Crypt is kind of a weird band to peg popularity-wise. They're definitely an influential band and a pretty legendary live act. The last time I saw them was at the Bouncing Souls' Stoked For The Summer where they played between the Souls and the Explosion. On that same run, they played a ~800 cap room here in Boston and the show wasn't anywhere near sold out. It wasn't like the place was empty but... It certainly wasn't full.

As for the kind of bands they'd tend to be associated with: I'd say punk or rock music with swagger. An argument could be made for most of the stages on Friday. But I think headlining Rebel or early on the punk stage is most likely. I'm leaning into Rebel hard just because of where they landed on the poster. But they could fall anywhere, really.

Jeff Rosenstock is in a similar boat where I kinda feel like he could land on pretty much any stage in a late afternoon slot.

My new theory is that they have their own property that will host the fest going forward after this year.

  17. I've thought about this too. If so, it would make sense to announce early that this will be the last Riot Fest at Douglass Park. I just kind of figured news would have broken about that through one of the local papers if it was the case, but who knows.

Well, that would definitely be a "big swing." And it would align with everything Mike said in terms of announcements coming in the next few weeks, etc.

Maybe they could host outdoor shows there this summer, and maybe an event or two there on Riot weekend (not sure what that would look like but it would be a good way to test out logistics).

No way that it would have stayed secret up to now if it was property inside the city, of which there’s not much as you’re aware of.

Maybe in the suburbs but that sucks so much worse.

Maybe they finally rehabilitated the relationship with Humboldt and it’s moving back.

  22. A move back to Humboldt would be interesting. I'd love it, but it really feels like that bridge was burned.

I have no idea what the possible suburbs spots would be. There's certainly no parks in the west suburbs area I'm familiar with that could host it. If it leaves the city I imagine it goes way out, like the Woodstock golf course thing that was floated a while back.

There’s still farms that exist in the suburbs but they’re far and few. It’d have to be way out there like you said which kills whatever little convenience it still has.

Where else can they hold the festival? They burned their bridge at Humboldt, they do not have the funds or the size to have it in Grant Park, Union Park is too small...

The only other spots I can think of are Adams/Medill Park (not sure on the size but I know they have hosted festivals there in the past) and Jackson Park on the South Side, but people won't go if it's in Jackson Park because of their perception of the South Side, so I can't see Riot thinking a move there is a wise decision.

The truth is, for me at least, and I'm sure others as well, if the festival movies to the suburbs my likelihood of going will drop. Unless it's like right next to a Metra stop or something. I mean, the festival is already in an inconvenient location for a lot of Chicagoans and although I know a move to the suburbs would be great for suburbanites, I think attendance would definitely drop if it permanently moved to the suburbs.

I do, however, think the pushback from the community that seems to be mounting higher and higher each year is definitely a good reason to believe that a location change is very possible for this announcement.

Also, just for the lolz, they should move the festival to the amphitheater in Tinley Park
