could those dots be indicitive of 'full sets' that are more than an hour? seems to be stage closers and 2nd to lasts only with dots. way more bands get a full hour but maybe dotted names get either 70-75-80-90 mins. though that may be too many hour+ sets for one day

    Alexisonfire vs Menzingers is painful
Also Misfits vs SDRE vs Yellowcard

I really hope Yellowcard overlaps a whole lot less with the Misfits than that. Haha. That said, I actually think the Misfits set will be much shorter than what you have in there. First time around they played for 75 minutes; I'd expect about the same this time around too. Which is fine, really, given how short most of their songs are compared to the length of a track from your average headliner. Haha.

Some pretty tough conflicts if that hypothetical layout is any indication.

It would be completely on-brand for Riot Fest to do some sort of "schedule puzzle" like this where they casually release set times through various videos and then basically go "Piece it together yourself, nerds. We aren't ready to share it yet."

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

NIN is one of my all-time favorite bands, so they would be my obvious band to watch. But god, if there was an Ice Cube/NIN overlap, I’d be so angry

I'm not going to do a full schedule for Friday because we don't have anything to go off of, but my guess is My Chemical Romance and Alkaline Trio play back to back into each other on main, Bleachers and Portugal the Man play into each other on a side stage, and Rocket from the Crypt play into Descendents, so it'd be MCR vs. Portugal vs. Descendents as a Main Stage conflict feed.

I mean, it's gotta be either Ice Cube or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs up against NIN, right?

I agree MCR v Portugal seems likely, but do you really think they'll put MCR up against Descendents? I was thinking the overlap between those crowds might be too big for them to create that conflict. Or is the overlap just me? lol

I don't know if MCR gets the only band on stage treatment, but Descendents will be finished or close to finished when MCR starts, not sure about PTM

Descendents also could be main stage before ALK3

all 3 days of 2019 had only one band play against the headliner and 2018 was similiar.. 2021 was a little bit more wonky, but I'd lean into this year being more like 2019-2018

also my guess is LTJ closes out Rebel since they don't really fit anywhere else or better yet switch Alice Glass to ? and LTJ at 2-245

I'm assuming Ice Cube has to be up against either YYYs or NIN. Gotta go NIN if it's them, YYYs is a little bit harder. Cube is never gonna play a show in my town, fests will be my only chance at him. Question is whether YYYs will tour more now that they have a new album coming out.

I'd probably watch most of Academy Is and then watch Ice Cube. I watched a little NIN at Riot 2017 and it wasn't really my thing, even though they sounded great and I love Trent's film scores. Ice Cube is a bucket list artist for me.

    Would "530-630 ?" be LTJ?

I hope the times aren’t close to that. Because Midtown vs Jimmy Eat World vs LTJ would pretty much ruin my Sunday.

As Foo Fighters is in an unfortunate halt, is there a chance Nate Mendel joins SDRE for the tour?

Depending on if they plan on releasing a full album mcr. Will have at least one new song in their set and it’s 6 minutes

It could be? I went by the current roster and Riot hasn't officially changed LTJ from Friday to Sunday.

making my spotify playlists and i always look at the 'fans also like' and i was very shocked to see that all of the bands on Foxy Shazam's list are all post-hardcore/screamo bands but specifically more of the spastic wild type like the number 12 looks like you, fear before the march of flames, the blood brothers, horse the band, every time i die.. and i would love to know how foxy shazam got in that grouping, haha.

  23. I don't listen to any of those bands but at minimum, "spastic wild type" certainly feels like Foxy to me haha

Their first album, I wouldn't say it sounds like those bands, but it put them in a territory where the grouping makes sense for sure. The rest of the albums do stray far from that.

  25. I made basic playlists with the Spotify Top 10 for every band, and I editorialized a little bit and skipped bands that me & my friends already know really well, but then I made the mistake of also skipping bands I already personally don't care for.

It's become the height of drama in that particular group chat =P
