Limp Bizkit could play right before Slipknot

    Hear me out...

A nu metal stage at Riot.

Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Mudvayne, etc.

Now we are talking. It can be the 2 main stages of pure nu metal, with the other one having Deftones, Disturbed, Static X, Mushroomhead and POD

im here for this idea, but putting disturbed on the riot line up is a step to far, lol

If slipknot headlines, everytime i die will probably have a early main stage slot!

Slipknot might headline. But Limp Bizkit and Disturbed will never be on the bill. Korn won't play unless it's an album set. Mudvayne, Mushroomhead, Sevendust, etc. will also never play. I've said all of this before and I still stand by it.

You might see Slipknot with, say, Deftones or Bring Me the Horizon as direct support. Hatebreed and/or Every Time I Die would make sense too. Lower on the bill I could see Gojira, Knocked Loose, Turnstile, etc. There's a way to do it with bands that fit the Riot Fest mold.

Like it or not, there's a certain type of band that Riot Fest invites and most of that "first wave" of nu metal is so far out of that realm that it won't ever happen.

We now have a history of nearly 10 years of them not booking bands like that. And I don't see them adding it to the mix. What we've seen is bands that are very well respected (critically) from that era, with major crossover appeal, performing. But that's it. System of a Down, Incubus, and Deftones have a much broader appeal than most of the bands being mentioned. Rob Zombie is arguably the only real outlier that could be considered, but even he is a bit more Riot Fest-y in terms of aesthetic and appeal...

i agree with the invisible nu-metal line i generally tend to think slipknot is the first band on the other side of the invisible line, so if Riot decided to extend it, theyd be the first ones invited in. i think Hoobastank (with their new tongue in cheek relationship with riot), mudvayne and kittie would be close to the line as well, but maybe thats my own bias. I think a big identifier is "have you been able to shed the enough of 'nu-metal' label in the eyes of the mainstream in the last 10-15 years by branching out?", and i think you can say yes to the ones who have played: system, incubus, deftones, rob zombie.. but not really to korn, LB, papa roach, godsmack, disturbed, etc.. I also hope riot stays away from the post-nu-metal, radio hardrock (seether, shine down, breaking benjamin, three days grace, etc..) only because they have fully taken over every one of my local radio festivals for the past decade, haha

Lots of bands are going to be touring in September-October, so I don't know how much stock I'd put in Slipknot as the 3rd headliner... would be cool tho

I'm thinking more likely is Devo or No Doubt, totally could be wrong

or the band everyone wants to see finally reunite, and since the world basically went backwards last year maybe they will.. all I know is that I don't know nothing

FACTS. its going to be interesting to watch re-opening play out. the amount of acts across all genres trying to get out asap will fill up venue schedules so damn quick. there will be some who gamble and book to early and still end up having to cancel/postpone, and there will be ones who are extra cautious who may get shut out til mid-late 2022. with so many acts touring at the same time, will ticket sales be bad bc of to much flooding the market on top of so many fans struggling financially..

I wonder how expensive shows will be when they start happening again. Bands will need to make some money, but at the same time with many tours happening at the same time and most fans still recovering/struggling prices cant be really high imo.

Maybe merging tours can be a solution?

Or maybe the people at the top shouldn't be so greedy.

Hard to tell. A lot of it depends on the format. If places open up at 50% capacity, I think we'd see increased ticket prices. But if things are opening at full capacity, it would behoove places to keep prices relatively similar to what they were before. Particularly for larger venues and artists.

I'm also not sure that merging tours would be any sort of resolution unless you're upping the venue size and capacity (in a case where doing a co-headliner might bump you up into a bigger venue). Otherwise, you're just decreasing your revenue.

I also don't know that you'll see the rush that everyone assumes is going to happen. There are only so many venues in play and nights in a week. And there will be fewer venues than when all this began... So for places like HOB, what you might see is a show happening on a Tuesday or a Wednesday when there might not have been one. And maybe an earlier show on a Saturday so they can get in the show as well as the "club night" (which happens sometimes anyway).

I'm guessing it'll be more of a slow trickle than people think given the different comfort levels bands/artists will have, not only with public safety, but even when things do start to get more in control how many people are allowed in the venue at a time, etc.

Everything Amphitheater and up is probably already booked out the next two years. Heard from a friend who works at a 2K cap venue downtown that they were getting calls from acts that would normally play the arena right down the block.

Granted this was all early in quarantine so who knows.

I think it's pure due diligence as not planning for it would absolutely be foolish (which, considering our mayor...would be expected).

I'm hopeful for events. They chose the United Center for our vaccination super site for a reason and not Sox Park. Outdoor sporting events are likely going to be at 25% capacity and festivals are a possibility at some percentage cap in the fall.

The uc will start having fans. It’s only friends and family of the players to start. Starting with the bulls this week and hawks on Sunday. so idk how they are going to do both unless the vaccines are done early in the day. I do know they are a site for vaccines tho just don’t know how it’s gonna work

With the stimmy soon and the partnership between Merck + J & J think I'm gonna throw the money down and upgrade to Deluxe from VIP.

Mostly for the open bar and the shade.

thats amazing to hear, but should be clarified (because ppl will twist everything) that it doesnt mean every adult will have needle in their arm by then, but rather just physically have the supply ready and able to be stored

because of the Merck/J&J (which is a single shot) agreement there will be more vaccine than people in the US and I'm assuming we will send extra to Canada, even if's it the middle of June, this is nothing but good news
