Got that same TBS email. I’m all for it, but I wonder what kind of backlash they will receive from people who already purchased tickets.

 

I’m all for it too. I mean I understand people who are vaxxed can still spread it and get it but it’s more about how sick you get compared to if you don’t have the vaccine

 

So, are all the late night shows doing this? Or just TBS so far?

 

Metro as a venue are doing it for all their upcoming shows. It’s not just the one TBS show

 

Oh shit I only skimmed it at first — I love that a venue with such a huge rep is choosing to nix negative tests as an option.

 

Totally. It's not about eliminating the virus. And if everybody was vaccinated, the virus wouldn't necessarily die out... But the impact on people would be minimal.

It's a weirdly difficult concept to explain and for some people to grasp.

 

Yeah I get that and even if you are vaxxed and go to one of the many music fests coming up get tested afterwards just to make sure. I was at 3 of the 4 days for lolla and the Sox game Friday and they had a huge crowd of 36k. I’m getting tested Thursday and again next week just to be safe

 

Also metro is giving out refunds because of the new policies

 

I’m vaccinated but the vaccine really isn’t doing much for people around where I’m from. But also, as someone who works for a molecular biology lab with doctors and researchers who have explained that this vaccine isn’t much more than a glorified way of trying to create heard immunity without everyone having to catch the virus. That being said, I really don’t have any skin in the game and got it mostly so people can have some peace of mind because Riot Fest is ultimately still going to be a super spreader event like any large gathering. So require it or not, everyone is assuming their own risk by just going in the first place. Just an opinion.

 

Unfortunately, I think the bar is so low at this point that considering other people’s peace of mind actually qualifies as having skin in the game.

Went to Foo Fighters & Radkey last night. 1) radkey is cant miss, they shred so hard. 2) dave grohl is a master manipulator, how dare he open the first big show back in my town with Times Like These and make an entire amphitheater ugly cry on the very first song, haha

Pitchfork is requiring vaccines AND masks.

 

This may have always been the Pitchfork policy. At least it’s what I’m remembering.

Big difference too from Lolla since P4K requiring 24 hour tests if not vaccinated. Hopefully that deters unvaxed from not going, or I guess they'd just forge a card instead. Sigh

 

I’m so glad Riot is taking necessary precautions. But I found out from my gf that apparently one person in our group isn’t getting the vax, so now I’m kinda dreading the scenario. (Sigh) Ugh

 

At this point for my own mental and physical health, anybody in my life who isn't getting vaccinated is just cut out from my life. Truly couldn't give less of a fuck anymore. Get the vax or fuck off forever because this isn't going to end unless that happens ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My thing is, if they don’t wanna get it, and risk getting the worse of it, and having the constant hassle of taking Covid tests, then fine! Me and my vaccinated self will have a little more fun! That’s my way of looking at it. But I REALLY more people would just get the damn vax

Probably not. Still has that post on IG, but I did see somebody on Reddit indicate that the announcement would be coming on Friday now.

Wonder if that ties with a Riot Fest announcement since they said they have a "special Friday aftershow" to announce too. I could see them being a co-sponsor or something.

 

Pitchfork is requiring attendees be vaccinated or negative test within 24 hours…nothing out of the ordinary there BUT they are also requiring masks be worn at all times within Union Park unless eating or drinking. They’re the first Chicago festival I’ve heard of implementing this. Interesting. I don’t know how well you can enforce it and it will be interesting to see if Riot does anything similar.
