I wish the Riot Fest schedule would come out this week like Lolla’s instead of us having months left to go before getting to plan.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

I wanna start stressing out about my conflicts

Also, WHERE ARE MY ALBUM PLAYS?

    I really don't think it's Bright Eyes.

If you were Connor Oberst, would you look at the Riot Fest line-up and say "Sure, I'll play the unannounced secret surprise party to a bunch of people who may or may not like my band for less than I'd normally make while you get a cut of the merch?" Or would you wait and play two sold out Chicago shows in 2022 on the inevitable second leg of your tour, get paid the regular amount, play to fans you know love you, and not have to share the merch?

I'm guessing they would go with option #2. And if there's any way Riot Fest could have booked them, they would almost certainly have put them on the main line-up.

I can't wait to see what hints they drop about this show! And I'd love to be wrong about Bright Eyes, the Offspring, and a few of the others I've said I don't think will happen.

Lolla saying they have the line-up coming out is wild! I was expecting that we'd have heard about album plays, new ticket on-sales, and stuff at this point in the month.

But the week isn't over, and they've been announcing shit on random days this year. I still feel like the next wave of ticket on-sales will go on-sale before Friday, June 25th (the next weekend would conflict with the 4th holiday weekend and I don't see them pushing it out into July) and that we'll get the album plays ahead of that announcement.

I'm surprised Bayside hasn't fixed that poster yet. People are mad confused, thinking Senses Fail are playing Riot Fest now.

Also still a little surprised that the 9/16 date is still listed on their site. Usually mistakes like that get fixed within a day or two. With Hawthorne Heights and the Bombpops having a show that night without Bayside or Senses Fail, I'm doubling down on my theory that Bayside will be on the Thursday line-up.

It's great to see festivals caring less about radius clauses this year. It's not rampant or anything, but we've seen it enough. It's probably very helpful in terms of making up for lost time, being flexible with where they can play, etc.

I think after the past year and a half, bands just want to get out and play wherever they can (even if it’s the same city multiple times!) and festivals realize this, which is great.

For sure. I've seen a few tour routings that made my head spin. For example: Dropkick Murphys have a 28-date European tour with only 9 off days in total. That's a lot of quick travel in a short period of time!

Stateside, I think festival sales were strong which takes some of the pressure off. But TBH, with bands the size of Kississippi or Radkey... I don't think it should ever really be a concern, anyway. Just let them do what they want. They won't make or break a decision to go. It's just a value-add for most folks, if that makes sense.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but the Psychedelic Furs are playing the Vic on 9/16. Why couldn't they just have been on Riot?! UGH! ::insert "Shut up and take my money!" GIF::

So it sounds like there will be an announcement of who plays on Thursday.

I feel like they always play Chicago within a week or two of Riot Fest, hah. Would love for them to pop up on the line-up at some point but it seems fated to never happen.

That's good to hear! And we all know that taunting/trolling from the Twitter person means an announcement is coming up.

Sounds like the folks at Blue Ridge are having a hell of a time right now, they were supposed to release full line up today (they had 2 or 3 headliners plus a ton of midcard still to go, which their midcard is already super deep for that genre!) but seriously, good on them for being so up front. if i was going to that fest and read this i wouldnt be mad in the slightest, seem like good people trying their best. While i hope Riot never loses the snark, i do wish they could gain a bit of forthcoming-ness.. Speculation on who their number 1 on the poster was that pulled out?

BB had already been announced as 'only fest appearacen in 21' just looked at that mega party foul that papa roach just pulled considering the poster has giant "NOT FOR PUBLICATION" listed behind it. hahaha

If that is the OLD poster that is now scrapped then Evanescence is who dropped (if its the new poster then they are the replacement). Their other new adds seem to be I Previal, mastadon, Down, a day to remember, and halestorm

That's a bad fuck up on P-Roach's part. Oof. Wild to see something like this leak with a new line-up announcement imminent by the afternoon...

Curious to see how this plays out. And I'm still kinda surprised D.R.U.G.S. didn't pop up on the Riot Fest line-up.

It's been really cool seeing the "Riot Set Preview Party" drop on the list of upcoming shows as the Riot Fest Presents calendar filled out. It's officially off the front page!

(And I'm still surprised that we haven't received any updates on album plays or Thursday. I fully expected we'd get more news and an announcement about the new tickets by end of this week...)

Looks like the canceled Boston to Berkely 2 is back on! i sort of figured as much when they were on the riot line up next to each other, but confirmation is great. Now fingers crossed my STL date is not during riot weekend cuz being able to see them at home either RIGHT before or RIGHT after riot would free up so much conflict on that stacked top of the card saturday... but im doubtful

Definitely saw this coming! Haha. Wonder if the openers are on there too (not that there's a lot of fitting options, but I could definitely see the Bronx on there).

You could pull that apart and put it together in such a way that I might buy a single day ticket, but other than that? Same old active rock festival we've seen consistently over the last decade or so.

But just for funsies, the combo of bands that would get me to do a single day pass: Rise Against, Rob Zombie, Papa Roach (performing Infest), Cypress Hill, Chevelle, Anthrax, Body Count, Sevendust, Knocked Loose, Fever 333, D.R.U.G.S., and Rev Run

Bought tickets for my first post-quarantine show this week, BTW, and I'm pumped...

I get to see the Bouncing Souls (and supposedly H2O + a few others) in like, three weeks from tonight and I couldn't be more stoked! I'm so happy this is going to be my first show back rather than Hella Mega in August.
