If Pennywise or Social Distortion were shifted to Thursday, I would 100% purchase a single day ticket to that if it were in my area.

Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Cypress Hill, Pennywise, and Teenage Wrist - plus all the people watching - would make for a really fun day.

The rest of that line-up though. Oof. Yuck.

Just remember that not only have the Pumpkins been selling out arenas again since the original lineup reunion, but Chicago is their hometown. I actually think their day may sell just as quickly as NIN.
Adding the fact that Billy said 2020 was supposed to be a Mellon Collie 25th anniversary tour, its possible that they celebrate that milestone by playing (most) of it at Riot.

Did that last tour really sell out with any sort of real consistency?

I'm not saying it's going to sell poorly. Not by a long shot. But I definitely don't think they will sell as well, or as quickly, as the Nine Inch Nails day is going to.

I know that the tour sold out 2 nights at the United Center in Chicago and 2 nights at the Forum in LA. I caught it at MSG in NYC and that sold out as well.

Granted, the hype was there because of the reunion. But I think Chicago comes out for the Pumpkins, and if they throw down on the Mellon Collie anniversary speculation that would be a massive draw.

I may be biased because they are one of my all time favorite bands though lol

Really hoping we get Me First and the Gimme Gimmes added in the second wave since I just read that Fat Mike and Joey Cape are going to start playing with them again. I mean, since Mike will already be there it doesn't feel like a huge stretch.

So MGK not being on the Lolla lineup confirms he’s being added this week or the Thursday headliner right? I mean...there’s no other explanation for being in the area and not announcing a Chicago show already.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

maybe he'll just attend riot fest as a fan and we can throw pies at him.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the first two- but you leave The Queen Of Riot Fest Carly Rae Jepsen out of this you hear me?

I doubt he'd be a Thursday headliner. There is absolutely zero motivation for Riot to dump that amount of money into what will ostensibly be a free show.

But I do think he's one of the big name adds in this final wave of artists unless something happened where he pulled out of the deal. Which is just as plausible as him playing, TBH. Because they were presumably in talks/finalizing contracts with some of the bigger names that weren't part of the line-up drop last week.

"Step right up and test 'yer aim! Just two dollahs to throw a pie at a fuckboi!"

Carly Rae Jepsen is the new Limp Bizkit.

EDIT: I mean that as far as people wanting/hoping for an artist who will never be invited or asked to perform at the festival.

Might be making this up but I recall seeing in this thread that Riot Fest 3 day passes would be released if people got refunds or pushed to 2022. Was there a set time/date for that happening?

That was speculation from a while back. Current assumption is that 3-day passes are done and they'll be converting any refunded passes into single day tickets.

More bands and the daily line-up is coming this week. Single day tickets going on-sale as well and Riot Fest hasn't mentioned anything about 3-day passes yet which means it's probably not happening.

Maybe if single day sales are slow they might release some later in the summer. But that's a pretty big "if," TBH.

    Finally LOL

For real though, was there any particular reason why Fat Mike hasn’t played with them in so long? I always thought it was because of NOFX obligations, but there have been numerous times the past few years he could’ve potentially played with them but didn’t (hell, he even ATTENDED a Gimmies show)

Who knows, at one point they've gone through a million different variations and Mike probably just wanted a break .. they did a set in Montreal that's online, it was literally Spike and the rest of the band were all members of Lagwagon

Just a guess but it probably had something to do with Mike's sobriety. He always framed the Gimmes as his "fuck it, let's paid to party" band. I'd imagine performing with a band where that was your whole thing is probably a challenge at first.

But he's doing better now, and I'm sure the pandemic was a nice "reset" for a lot of that. I'm sure he won't do every tour, play every show, etc. and members will duck in and out as needed but... It's good to see him back in some capacity!

Thinking more about what we might get in the final wave. I think I'm going to go back on my previous speculation and get a little bolder:

I think MGK gets added. Not as a headliner but alongside Run the Jewels as a "co-headliner" on the same day. Similar to what they did with RTJ and Incubus in 2018.

And it was a strategic decision to hold the announcement. Given that they're going the "single ticket" route, it would make sense to add MGK in this second wave. Because he probably wasn't going to drive the sale of 3-day passes very much, but he will definitely drive single day ticket sales.
